I didn't mind the sent, it was just different. For something that contains a fair amount of menthol, I'm surprised and disappointed the effect did not last longer. It was a very nice, soothing soap, and it will stay in my rotation.

Well people, this was my first shave in almost two weeks. I had a pretty nasty case of poison ivy on the left side of my neck and also a small patch on my cheek between my jaw line and cheek bone; also on the left side.

I took it easy and only did one light pass WTG with my Slim set at 3. Whatever I missed is going to stay behind until the next shave. It was a very rewarding, experience. It cooled my face down a lot and the skincare of my items didn't let me down. I feel like a new man

    • Prep: shower
    • Razor: Mühle R89 JET
    • Blade: Polsilver SI (1)
    • Brush: The BiG SHave 2013 #90/100
    • Soap: Arko
    • Post: Thayers Medicated Superhazel
    • After shave: Proraso lozione dopobarba, Bulldog balm
First use of the Mühle R89 JET. It was very nice. It is heftier than the regular R89 and the rubberised handle helps a lot in terms of grip. When using a chrome razor it can sometimes feel like it's going to slip out of your hands every second - not the case with the JET. The DLC coating of the head also improves the shave in my opinion. The razor was able to cut through my one and a half day of stubble without any problems. The audible feedback is very similar to that of a Weber DLC. I think both DLC coated razors sound different to most other razors. The audible feedback is a tiny bit more high pitch in my opinion.

The Proraso Green face-lathered great with the Frank Shaving Finest Badger brush. Two passes and touch-ups with the Gillette Fat-handled Tech with the Bluebird Hi-Stainless blade left me clean and smooth, a near BBS shave. Finished off with Thayers Cucumber WH and Pinaud Clubman AS. This was my second shave with the Bluebird, and I am happy so far. This may turn out to be a really good blade for me.

I dedicated this fantastic shave to my dear friend Dmitry who sent me this wonderful cream and aftershave balm. The Russian version of Viking Sensitive (the Viking creams are originally Bulgarian) smells so classy and clean and gives tremendous lather with a VERY good cooling effect. In fact I would almost rate it as :Animatedfrozensmily: on my Cracky Wacky Ticky Tacky Menthol Scale. Thank goodness I have some more Svoboda balm in reserve, because it's really one of my favourites. Madame ain't too gung-ho about the Skin Bracer but as they say in North-Eastern Lower Slobovia - too bad! ;) :D

    Saturday-Italia!

Prep: Hot Shower-Stirling Spice Bath Soap
    Soap: Palmolive Menthol Cream-Italy
    Razor: RazoRock Jaws OC
    Blade: Personna Med Prep (4)
    Brush: Omega 10066 Boar Brush-Italy
    Aftershave: Proraso Green-Italy

WTG-XTG-ATG (adjusted angle for my beard a bit)

Back to Italy today! I used my trusty Italian Palmolive Menthol Cream, lathered up with my Omega 10066 Boar Brush, and went to work with Jaws and the Med Prep. I finished with the Proraso Green Aftershave. This was a great combination and a great, smooth, very close, nick & burn free shave.

It is below freezing here in south Texas today….very rare. I know…..we don’t have “real” winter like a lot of you, but it is sure cold for us. I am actually getting to wear a sweater today!

    Prep: Proraso Crema pre Barba
    Soap: Tabac Original
    Brush: HIS Synthetic "Lather Monster"
    Razor: Maggard MR10
Blade: Gillette 7 o'clock Sharp Edge Yellow (1)
Post: cold water rinse, TSD Signature Aftershave Milk

Near BBS today. I was drawn back to Tabac today, and I might stay a while. The HIS exploded with enough lather to make six passes, after loading for only ten seconds. My face felt well cushioned and protected by the thick, slick, slippery lather as the MR10 sang its way through three passes plus touch up.
The TSD aftershave milk is a solid performer. The ingredients are gentle but effective, and the signature scent is pleasing and manly.
    Have a great Saturday.

    Gillette (Astra blade)

My mostly all American shave (Astra blade). Today is my annual Pearl Harbor Day DE shave. As some of you know this was my Dads razor and he was at Pearl Harbor when it was bombed. So this razor was there and carried around the Pacific from '41-'45. This is also the razor I used during my High School years and was what I learned to shave with, so, this mornings shave was bittersweet but a fine, nostalgic shave. Have a good one.

    Saturday:

Prep: Hot Shower, Crown Shaving Co. Preshave lotion
    Brush: Simpson 56 Best Badger
    Cream: Speick (German made)
Razor: Merkur 41c 1904 Open Comb (German made)
Blade: Bolzano Superinox (German made), day 2
    Passes: WTG, XTG, ATG (3, 4, 5)
Post: Cold water splash, Dickinson's WH, Speick AS splash
Cologne: Ispazon, by Parfums de Marly

That. was. glorious. The Simpson turned into a genuine lather monster today, producing enough lather with the Speick cream that I easily could have made two more passes. I had no time constraints this morning, so I could luxuriate in a 3 pass shave. As a result, my face is truly BBS smooth and devoid of irritation, save the tiniest of weepers at the left side of my mouth (which the cold water splash closed). All that said, I admit that part of me is definitely looking forward to the end of this week and the return to soaps rather than cream. I could definitely see making Speick a regular part of my rotation (Speick Saturdays, perhaps? :signs002:), but there's something about using a shave soap instead of a cream that's somehow more satisfying to me.

NB: Great story about your Dad and WW2 to go with your rare usage of a DE, Oscar11. My grandfather was in the Pacific theater, in the Navy, in ww2 also.

    Prep: Warm shower, Cornhuskers Lotion
    Razor: Edwin Jagger DE89L
    Blade: Voskhod (1)
    Cream: Arko Ice Mint
    Brush: Vie-Long Horse Hair 12705
    Post: Witch Hazel, Cornhuskers Lotion
    Aftershave: Floid Amber

After using a Gillette 7'Oclock Yellow for the past three days, I loaded up a Voskhod today. This blade gives me the best shaves I have ever had. I had a nice, leisurely darn near BBS shave. There is only one spot under my right jaw that's not quite BBS. I finished off with Floid Amber. This was my first time using this aftershave and I really like it.

    Have a great day!

It's a winter-wonderland here this morning. A really beautiful Pacific Northwest Snowstorm yesterday has pretty much snow-bound the area for awhile. Time to take a leisurely shave and enjoy the morning with a fresh brewed cup of Joe! Looks like a prefect day to watch some football and witness Auburns defeat by Missou. The Tigers are hungry! :rah:
