For some time, I was not restoring or making many brushes due to family emergencies / commitments and a large work load. One that I did make during that time was a prototype from some scrap parts I obtained from a local hardware store. The case is chromed with grey matted ribs. The photos pretty much speak for themselves. It had such a good grip in the hand, I decided to name this brush. I have been using it off and on for the past four weeks or so. Good flow through and is a soap killer. Great backbone but soft at the tips with just a small amount of scritch. For me this is a more rare occasion brush, but it is really nice. So without further discussion ... A comparison to other brushes ...
Wow! That is beautiful. The industrial look is something I usually like only in small doses, but it really made a beautiful brush. Aesthetically, I like the shorter loft in that handle. That handle is asking for something short and purposeful, not long and floppy.
Thanks to all. The knot is a custom source. As to being floppy, this brush is the opposite of floppy. If it were a 20 mm knot I would agree the loft would be long, but this is a very tightly packed 28 mm 2 band which is no where near floppy. It is effective both in face lathering and bowl lathering.
I must have misread your direction on that (my apologies). Most people see 55 - 58 mm and think long and floppy not realizing the other variables that affect how the knot behaves. Thanks again!
Gary, thats really beautiful...and unique...but knowing you there is no surprise that it would be so creative... Bravo!
Very nice looking "heavy metal" handle ! I don't like the "bury" in knots but if this prevents the excessive blooming it's acceptable.
I like that. I like how the look of the handle is unique but not gaudy. I think the knot size and length is perfect.
Thank you Gents. I am planning on one more in Synthetic for me. If I plan on any more I would hope that the same materials are available but that is not a sure thing.
