Not quite as bitterly-cold a set-up as what I had for my Sunday shave but still bitterly-cold. This Vostok cream has a very nice scent with great lather and its menthol power is really potent. The skincare is also excellent. I just can't say enough good things about the Diana Sport balm and Barbon aftershave - to me, they're both brrrrrrrrr cold and beautiful!

Well, ICE is even worse! My steps are still frozen over after 3 days and so is the street as I gaze out the window.

So now you have me hooked on a taste of mild menthol, even though it is cold. With that, tomorrow's shave is brought to you by the local ice skating rink!

The williams Mug Shaving Soap face-lathered very well with the Semogue 1305 boar brush. This was shave 4 for the Bluebird Hi-Stainless Platinum blade with the Gillette fat-handled tech, and it ended with two passes and touch-ups to make it a near BBS shave. I topped it off with Thayers Cucumber WH and Pinaud Clubman AS. am clean and refreshed.​

 

MONDAY

Shave: Two passes, plus DE touch-up
Post: Rinse, Alum block, Clubman Bay rum & Shea butter cream

Early morning shave (4:30am); balmy 27°F outside, but with help of the warm lather, my morning is starting out quite nice.
A two-pass (WTG/XTG) shave—I've never gone ATG with the straight & have no plans to do so. I very rarely go ATG with my DE razors; one of the fringe benefits of having a light-beard. Two pass is near enough to reach the BBS stage. Spicy finish with the Clubman.

Well I wasn't going to use the Proraso today, but then I realized it was Menthol Monday!

I started to face lather but was not having much luck, so switched to the bowl. My brush was wetter then I use a cream! , but I was able to quickly buildup a fluffy lather. I ended up going back to the tub to get more soap, which gave me a great lather and shave.

The menthol effect seems to be lasts a lot longer today then previous uses of the Proraso. I guess it's related to the quality of lather?

Three passes for a DFS+ shave if I do say so myself.

WTG-XTG-ATG (adjusted angle for my beard a bit)

I decided to try the new Stirling Blu sample puck that Rod added to my last order. It lathered easily and the scent was pleasant. I stayed with Jaws and the Super-Max SS combination. The Super-Max SS was not quite as smooth today, but I got a good close shave with no nicks and very little burn. I finished with some Floid Blue. Always a good way to finish!

After two weeks using the excellent Speick cream, I was surprised that my return to soaps produced more lather (albeit a bit less stable) than I had gotten from the same time and effort with the cream. The Bolzano proved to be sharper than the Bic in the FaTip, as two passes produced an essentially BBS result, along with a little weeper at my jowl which the cold water fixed right up. The Lucky Tiger was remarkably cold, particularly since I'd already been out to shovel snow before my shower, but again had problems absorbing, even with no extra moisturizers and the dryness of the winter air and central heating. I may well have to switch to splashes exclusively, once my stock of balms runs out.

It is my first shave with the Cobra Classic. The shave didn't go as pith as I expected, but with a new razor, there's always the small learning curve. What I did like about the shave is that it went by quick. With the size of the head much more area can be covered! I can't wait to see how the rest of the week goes for me.
