Wow that super speed looks great. I have the same one (passed down from my grandfather) and it is not nearly as stunning as that. Is is re-plated? Is it just a good picture?

The blade is starting to dull. There was some pulling this morning. I'm surprised how long it has lasted though. Other than minor discomfort, it was a great shave!

 

Thanks! This Super Speed really is mint! It has not been replated, it just wasn't used much in the 50-odd years between when it was made and when I bought it from a seller on eBay.

I also have a fat handled Tech that was mint when I bought it, but I am surprised at how thin the original nickel plating on the Gillettes seems to be. After a couple of years of regular use, not even every day, it is starting to show water spots and flea bites in the plating.

I have a replated fat handled Tech, too. Although the plating job was very well done, much better than the original factory finish, it is obvious to me that it has been replated, it just doesn't feel the same as the minty one. But, boy does it shine!

So today I shimmed my DLC with 1 shim. It help the razor to be a tiny bit more aggressive and way more effective. The shave was definitely closer compared to yesterday and I didn't require a touch-up pass. I think The Mühle R89 JET and Weber DLC with 1 shim are very similar in terms of aggressiveness and closeness of the shave. The audible feedback of the Weber DLC is slightly different.
The LA Shaving Soap Co. Bespoke #1 is also wonderful and pairs with Krampert's frostbite very nicely.

Face washed with Nivea for Men Sensitive face wash.
Mühle R89 coupled with Astra SP (5).
Haslinger Ringelblumen (Marigold) whipped with Semogue 1520 boar in Steve Woodhead shallow mug.
3 passes in different directions followed by luke rinse, Ajanta alum applied for 1 minute, then rinsed off with cold water.
Finished off with Alt-Innsbruck after shave.

Sweet mother of god!!! This post is delayed, I had to yank myself off the ceiling first. That after shave is cold...blistering cold! But in a good way, but WAY colder than I'm used to. Wife came running, "what's the matter, Honey???" "ohhh nothing, just hangin' here, chilling ya know?" ... wow! Scent is very strong, so now I'll await and see how long it lingers.
