looks like the kid has got some straight-edge techniques down. i wonder how he'll go about shaving his long hair though... lol
Nah, not really. They are such a dedicated bunch that they always jump to the head of the pack when a newbie comes along. They want to be sure you guys/gals get the attention you deserve and need so that you'll see this is a great, helpful place. It's a rarity among forums, really.
Boy, ain't that the truth! I'm pretty sure the only reasons I've been able to push through with this method of shaving are a) I'm doing it so that I can teach my son, and b) I put my electric into storage on the day my first straight razor arrived. It's a committment. A lifestyle change. Think of learning to use a straight razor like... a right-handed person suddenly choosing to be left-handed. "Why would I want to do that? I already know how to write with my right hand, why would I want to use my left? Wouldn't that be more difficult, more prone to error, more time consuming, more dangerous, and with a very steep learning curve?" Exactly.
I lifestyle change indeed! I've been shaving a month or two now and I still suck pretty bad. i'm frustrated i can't shave like that guy in the video. I mean, how much experience could he possibly have? Obviously he hasn't been shaving for twenty years or something... i don't know... do you guys think i should go back to the electric razor? I can get an okay shave with the straight, but i keep having to touch it up with a cartridge or the electric since some spots are kind of hard to gett at. sigh.
That's one of five I've watched. My favorite is the Rasiermesser Rasur. I get chills watching him shave his upper lip. I know it wouldn't probably be included in a school environment but it's cool to watch.
Eugh, I don't like that one. At the end of the shave, his face is bleeding in numerous places. and during each stroke you can practically feel the hairs pulling. Definitely a quick shave, but also bad for the skin from the looks of it.
I like it because it shows that you don't have to do-be-have anything special. His brush has no handle, his two strops have seen better days and he wields his razor like he was born with it. In our minds we appreciate the luxury of the "wet-shave" but I wonder if he has ever used a plastic mass razor. I got the feeling that "that's just how he's always done it". It's a far cry from the rest of the youtube videos as he's just sharing his way, not the only way. He's normal, not exceptional. And he's a hero in my book if he still has his upper lip! GOOOOOOOOSSHHH! Amazing! One pass and the goat was gone!
Yeah, I do like that it's a no-frills shave video. Gives it a sense of authenticity. But still...that was quite a bit of blood. Loses points for that.
He was my favorite also. I watche how he held his razor and studied it. Only into a straight razor for 2+ weeks has been very educational. I also like Xman's video!!
So now I know. Before I attempt taking a razor sharp piece of metal to my throat, to take a big swig of liquid courage.
Since this thread was resurrected, I'll add that Willie wasn't bleeding from multiple cuts, just the pimple he nicked on his chin. The other to spots are just moles.
