My adjustable FatBoy experiment is over... I think my face prefers a mild and efficient razor. My Maggard does the trick for me (famous last words)

Prep: warm shower with Shea moisture three butters scrub
    Soap: HTGAM Lime
    Brush: HIS
    Razor: Maggard MR10
Blade: Gillette 7 o'clock sharp edge yellow
    Post: cold water rinse
    AS: Shea moisture AS elixir

This was my first use of the HTGAM Lime, and I really like it. The puck is huge and makes loading very quick and efficient - this puck should last nearly a year. The scent is nice and Limey, but not too strong. I did not feel like someone had squeezed a lime near me, more like a good sniff of the rind.
The HIS whipped up loads of slick lather, which the MR10 sang through comfortably. The soap clearly provides plenty of moisture and protection. I can't really review it yet, but all signs point to quality.

I've never seen a Slim Twist, I like it! Also 'Slim Twist' sounds like the title to a Elmore James novel :)

    Brush: Wilkinson Sword
    Soap: Proraso white tub

A great shave today. I am running low on the Proraso blue AS lotion, but my face is getting to dry without it and I had to bring it back into rotation.

Except for the Camelot after shave balm, it was a smooth shave. I didn't like the scent of it and I tossed it out immediatelly. I has also a derivation of paraben in it.

Post: Cold water splash, Dickinson's WH, Aqua Velva Ice Blue AS

After Friday's facial fiasco, I skipped shaving on Saturday and resolved to keep this AM's shave to a 1-pass SAS in order to let the various self-inflicted wounds heal. SAS is exactly what I got, as a look in the mirror shows that I shaved, but I can still easily feel stubble on much of my face. This was my first time using the Aqua Velva Ice Blue, and I have to admit to some disappointment. If there's menthol in there, it's minimal, as I got no cooling sensation from it whatsoever in comparison to my other mentholated aftershave, the Lucky Tiger.

The VDH Luxury shave soap lathered well with the Parker pure badger brush. Two passes with the Schick M adjustable left me with a near BBS shave. I finished it off with a cold water rinse, Thayers Cucumber WH, and Pinaud Clubman AS. I'm feeling clean, smooth, and refreshed.

    Prep: Hot Shower-Stirling Bath Soap
Soap: Los Angeles Shaving Soap-Woody Lavender
    Razor: British Gillette Slim Twist
    Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (2)
    Brush: Whipped Dog Silvertip 22mm x 48mm
    Aftershave: Canoe

WTG-XTG-ATG (adjusted angle for my beard a bit)

This was the 2nd shave with my Gillette Slim Twist. I used the LASS Woody Lavender today for the first time (samples available from Maggard Razors). The LASS gave a very nice smooth, easy lather. The Woody Lavender scent is excellent! A little gave plenty of lather for at least 4 passes if you wanted to. I will load less next time. Combined with the GST and GSB, I got a great smooth, nick free shave. I finished with my “Old Man” Canoe AS.

    Bring on the football……..

Bob, the name of that cream is actually PIKA. :) Because of the Bulgarian language being written in the Cyrillic alphabet like Russian it causes a little confusion to English speakers. I also have that cream and I agree with you - the menthol sensation is not noticeable. It's still good stuff.

It just doesn't get any smoother or better than this. Even my wife told me that I'm almost as smooth as her and our gorgeous little daughter and that made me feel great. The Ice & a Slice soap smells so nice and its lather is a pleasure to work with, and it's got a HELL of a menthol kick to it. It also contains goat's milk which moisturizes and soothes sensitive skin very well. The Svoboda balm is one of the best on the market and if you like a nicely-scented aftershave with a lot of menthol then the Max Refreshing from Bulgaria is your ticket. ;) :D

When I was over at Jeff's (Stingraysrock) house yesterday dropping off the box, he gifted me his 7/8 wedge that Mycarver restored for him. I've never used a wedge or anything bigger than a 5/8 and man I've got to say, even though I've only used it once, the Juggernaut is going to end up being my favorite. When I was touching up the razor on the hone and then stropping, I was suprised at how much resistance the wedge gives you. It's like it suctions itself to the hone and strop, also you don't get the definitive pop and crackle of the more hollow blades when shaving, instead you hear a sizzle. It effortlessly wipes your beard away and if there are any spots where the stubble resists the smaller blades, the chopper goes straight on through.

Also for the first time ever, I'm not using a balm. I'm trying out an experiment to see if it's really necessary for me, or just an unnecessary item in my kit.
:happy036:for the shave and:happy036::happy036:to Jeff for his generosity!

    HTGAM Lime Day Two

Prep: warm face wash with Shea Moisture Three Butters Scrub
    Soap: HTGAM Lime
    Brush: HIS
    Razor: Maggard MR10
Blade: Gillette 7 o'clock Sharp Edge Yellow
    AS: Krampert's Finest Frostbite

Really nice and easy DFS today. I cleaned up my Dad's mug and used it today... I don't think it's a special mug, just something he had around the house. It's a little too small to use with my HIS comfortably - too much banging around while I whip up lather. Tomorrow, I'll try it with a different brush, but I'm still on the hunt for a new bowl.
The HTGAM worked very well again, I have a cold, so maybe that's why I don't detect much scent, but no matter, the lather is more important.
Krampert's is a favorite. It makes my eyes water, but my skin feels so good a few minutes later.
