1. First, I'm not an aficionado just a graduate student living hand to mouth, using coffee to power through sleep deprivation.

That being said, I'd can understand why some people would be willing to spend that much on a coffee maker if they had the money and really cared about taste/texture instead of just staying awake. But then you are getting into the realm of coffee as an art, and that sounds like an entirely different thread.

  3. Some see a sticker price of $150-200 on a DE razor and wonder, "Does it really shave better than a $25 model?"[/quote]
I often wonder the same thing myself.
  4. I use a Hario burr grinder and brew directly into my Klean Kanteen using an H2JO percolator filter. I love it :)

  5. I looked up the Sunbeam Vacuum Master and found this page that had diagrams that reminded me of the coffee brewing contraption from Breaking Bad. Sorry, felt the need to make the random comment. I really don't know where I am going with it.
  6. Might as well throw my hat in this ring. I grind my beans and use a refillable pod in my Keurig. There are days when I miss a full pot, but most of the time I'm glad I'm not wasting a whole thing for one or two cups.
  7. Cheap coffee grinder and a french press. Doesn't break a wallet, easy to clean, and makes a darn good cup.

  15. We are using a Keurig but only because we got a coupon for a free one in the mail. I went online and filled out the form and without even entering a credit card number or having to pay for shiping; it arrived! Don't ask me how we were so fortunate to get a free one because I have no idea. Keurig is okay. It doesn't make large enough cups of coffee for me but it's great for a quickly made cup in the morning. p.s. We use the refillable filter cup thingy so it's cheap.

  17. Say that again?
  18. I had my first cup of coffee a couple of years ago. I may have 5 cups a year now, my wife is making some right now. I do like the smell while it's brewing.

  19. Perhaps that was typed before Josh had his morning cup...:D
  20. 5 cups a year! Easy there…you may need to pace yourself before that coffee thing becomes a habit! ;)
(says the guy who does about 5 cups a day.)
