    Gents,

I've just come across an un-opened Barber Shop Deluxe Set, includes an unused Brush, Puck (unopened) and Cup with ornate detailing at an antique store for $35,, being a newbie, should I make the purchase?

Sorry if this isn't the place to ask..but I'm grateful for any input!

    Kind Regards,
    James

Thanks! I had them hold it for me, I'm not a seller, and opened a thread asking if it was acceptable to ask these kinds of questions. I don't want to burden our group as I'm sure we get those folks "price shopping" to sell stuff.. I try to google/eBay/etc. The going prices but couldn't find this set anywhere..

I'll snag it tomorrow morning, and post some pics. We can then decide if I did good lol.. Thanks for the help!

    The addicted newbie,
    James

This isn't the big ceramic T shaped thing that a razor and brush hang from??
If it is, think twice. Only those specific parts fit on it.

It's just a Mug, Brush and Soap set (like a Van Der Hagen set) from 1976 Unopened. If you search for them the only thing I can find are the mugs, similar to old spice mug, going for 50+ used..

Thing I'll go make the purchase and post some pics later today..

    Thanks!

Completely unused! Again, I don't sell but I got this for 50% off the original asking price..

Soap is still rapped, seams to have never been opened..

    Thoughts?

    Stoked!

Even if the soap is no good, you got a really good deal. Chances are the soap, tho, is tallow-based and therefore should give you a great lather.

One more for good measure, before I enjoy a solid Sunday ritual from 1976!

Grabbed a couple of "Shaving Bowles" while there.. Let's say I didn't spend over $20 for the entire trip!!

Not sure if that good or not, but I am completely satisfied!

Please show me your finds! I love looking at "The Score",,

The Puck still has a strong smell of Musk/Soap,, yet to lather, but I will post a pic/review when I do..

Was thinking about leaving this one in the Den untouched, but my curiosity is getting the best of me...

    Haha

Lather the bottom of the puck, then if you decide to save it, it'll still look new on top and your curiosity will have been satisfied.

Very cool. I've seen those online and on here but can't remember the company name. I can't research it right now but I believe HoosierTrooper has some brushes like that. Maybe he'll pop up on this thread. I've said before, I really like the traditional barber-style handles.

    Great!

    Headed there now.

Love checking out the "New/Old-stock" & Vintage treasures Gents dig up!

I know my find isn't much, but it set the hook for this novice collector and new Wet Shaver enthusiast lol..

    Thanks again,
    James

That's a nice set, but doesn't that knot look a little small for the size of the handle?

It does, Not to mention the brush is extremely course almost feels synthetic? I chalked it up to being from 1976, there's no question it's original/unused. Still has the JCPenny sticker on the bottom of box..

"Pure Bristle" on the handle indicates it is boar. They do feel stiff and course to start, but, as I'm sure you've read, boar can break in to be as soft, if not softer, than a silvertip.
The handle design is similar to the Omega 10098 Pro, a design used by many barbers.
    Fantastic score! Use and enjoy!!
