Grats on the razor, I also just received today a 71 Super Adj. Ill keep an eye on this thread and check your thoughts. I myself am not sure what blade I will try first.

I think for me around 3 is close to a Flare Tip Super Speed

I have a 1969 3rd quarter Super Adjustable, the short handled one, the same size as a slim. I do my first pass on 9 and then the second pass is on 5 and it delivers a fantastic shave. So far I've only used Voskhod blades in it, but it really does well with them.

I tried 3 on my first shave and it seems about right to me also. Thanks. BTW, Brian - do you still have that other razor for sale that we talked about some time ago?

Grats on yours also! Lovely tool, aint it? :)

I used mine with a fresh Viking's Sword - I always do. It's my go-to blade. First shave was pleasant. I kinda like the long handle without disliking shorter ones. It doesn't bother me it's so long, though I normally prefer shorter ones. The razor has a really nice heft. All metal, good weight. Feels like quality. Mine was a bit "rough" and squeaky after the cleaning, so I lubed it up in mineral oil (sewing machine oil) and it cleared all up. No more squeaking and the dial turns smoothly. I had it set on "3" to start out easy as advised and it returned me a pleasant DFS+ shave. I look forward to next shave where I'll try and turn it slowly up.
