Greetings. I am a new member here. Allow me to tell you a bit about myself. I've been shaving for around 35 years. Wow, when I type that it makes me seem really old. I guess I am. I have despised shaving for at least 34 of those 35 years. I'm certain that I started shaving with some sort of Gillette DE back in the day. I recall those single edged injector types and the disposables with which handles and a yellow cover as being a good way to slice off moles. At some point I went with an electric and ground my face down on a semi regular basis. I grew my first beard around age 20 and have pretty much had facial hair of some sort over the past 30 years. I am attempting to slow down my life a little. The arrival of the half century mark gave me a good reason to start thinking about how I would do that. I have at least 10 more years of career in me, but I've been doing it long enough that I don't have to scratch and claw my way to the top anymore. But, I am good at what I do and will continue to give it my all. But I do want to try and appreciate more of the daily and live more for the moment. So that brings me to traditional shaving. I remember watching my grandfathers use a brush and double edge razor. It seemed like a good thing to explore. I started out by giving DE gifts to my two grown sons. They really like them and that got me thinking even more about my personal hatred of shaving. I decided I might as well give it a shot. So I purchased a VdH set and have been waiting for a razor to arrive in the mail. Yep, I jumped right in to the AD part of this habit and have at least 4 Des on the way! Tracking numbers with USPS are a form of torture! Anyhoo, I hope to share my return to this habit with you here.
Welcome to the den! Something happens when you hit 50. For me, the kids are pretty much grown and gone or going, or coming back! Yes I've got one back.. Taking care of "me" is ok. My "me" time is shaving..
Welcome to the Den. We know you'll fit right in. So grab yourself a comfy chair, and give our threads a spin! Burma Shave
Enjoy your stay. I used to hate shaving as well. Now, I look forward to it. I was just thinking today (just went through 10 days of yuck) that even when I am not feeling well, a good shave picks me up.
Welcome Troy! I hope you like it here. I am a fellow Coloradan. Let me know if you find a local store with shaving supplies.
Welcome to TSD! A great start to enjoying the small things in life. It is surprising how much one can enjoy the little things, especially something that most of us considered a chore for so many years.
