Never under estimate the Classic E2...a contender for best razor ever...They got this one sooo right in the beginning...not leaving room for improvements....Simple-Perfection...

I was just reading a thread about, "What is your biggest shaving problem?"
In all sincerity...with this fantastic feeling BBS I got today from my GEM Cutlery Damaskeene 1912.....My biggest 'shave related' problem today, is trying to avoid excessive face touching in public....lol

Read all this thread 1-88 - very interesting.
Bird Lives - is this Bird Lives as in "The Life of a Bird continues" 0r "The Lives of Birds"?
Only trouble with this thread is that I now have purchased in the last couple of months:-
    I1 Schick Injector, I2 Hydro-magic, PAL adjustable Injector, 1912 Ever-Ready, Gem G-bar, Ever-Ready Shovelhead and a Valet auto strop.
Is this the beginning of RAD? Or if I have RAD is there any cure?

I got a very sweet Gem G-bar the other day, and tried it today, great shave smooth and the razor had a good feel to it, I also have a Clog Prof as well, not tried that yet. but the G-bar just looks stunning.

I can't recall where, but somewhere I read that you should leave the blade in your injectors so you don't damage the end of the next blade you put in. Any truth to that? I had always taken the blade out and put the razor up until it was time to use again. I did recently buy a cased injector that had what looked like what could be a false blade...perhaps this is the purpose?

Yeah, when an injector has no blade in it, it's sometimes difficult to insert a new one, especially from a plastic dispenser, such as the Personnas.

as in "Charlie Parker"......Yes, it is an advancing case of RAD, and advancing rather nicely I might add.....and no, there is no cure, but don't fight it...if you do it will spread to Shaving Brushes=BAD....Creams=CAD and all sorts of wonderful ways to spoil yourself, and those around you who love clean shaven good smelling men...lol!!

G-Bar also known as a 'HFT'; Heavy Flat Top; the official name used by GEM...sure is a 'looker'....a regular sweetheart.....but don't let her keep you away from that 'Clog-pruf'...That CPMM is 'too cool for school'...one of the best shavers ever, and an engineering marvel...That may be one razor that's pretty close to 'perfect' in every way...:D...Let us know what you think...

Lloyd's right. There's no sense in fighting it. :) I've been pretty happy with my collection of razors lately. And just last night I was perfectly happy shaving with Personna injector blades. Then I tried a Chinese Schick this morning. Gotta buy more blades now :) Those Schicks are really nice. I don't think I've ever felt a smoother blade. I feel the need to get a hold of some Plus Platinums now too after hearing everyone talk them up.

See, it just turns into some other AD.

No cure and as Lloyd has said, Bird Lives is for one Charles Christopher Parker Jr. better known as Yardbird or shortened to Bird! After his passing, graffiti began to appear in NYC with the words "Bird Lives" and that is all about that.

Source of graffiti story is from: Ross Russell. Bird Lives!: The High Life And Hard Times Of Charlie (Yardbird) Parker Da Capo Press.

OH MY.....That is such a gorgeous combo....I've been there, used that, and I'm grinning right now knowing what a wonderful time you have in store....

Just in case you have never shaved with an ER '24, I'll throw this in, if you have this is for those who haven't....

First, when you pop her open that head will fly forward and can whack the handle leaving scratches on her beautiful top...So I always wrap my fingers around the handle and pop her open with my thump and she pops open to hit my fingers rather than that hard handle.

Second, when there's a blade in there...don't just pop it open! That will send the blade flying...lol...I always use my other hand to keep the top from flying open...Hold it so gravity will hold the blade against the blade stops on the guard and slowly open the top...Remove the blade....then hold her level and slide a new blade in till it's edge is under those blade stops and turn down to let gravity hold it in place til you snap the head shut again.

These moves are very simple and intuitive....and will keep you from dropping a blade and having it bounce around the sink...lol True, the blade loading procedure is a tad more sensitive than a 1912, but thats just part of this lovely razor's personality, and she will reward you with fantastic shaves...

The angle on the '24 is different from the rest of the SE razors...I personally dig this angle and find it makes this shovelheaded beauty my most maneuverable razor...;) Most SE razors you lay the head flat against your cheek for that first north-south stroke and you lower the handle just enough to barely raise the head just off of your skin. And of course the sound lets you know if you nailed it....Well with the '24 you double or triple the distance you drop the handle. It's easy to find, because the audio feedback volume is like Guiness Book loud!...lol..."Follow the Sound Luke"...You can finger tip, very lightly hold her...no pressure is needed, much like the OCMM and as you make that first North South pass, start to lower the handle and you will hear when she starts to cut...She has the loudest and prettiest voice...Similar to a Hollow-ground Str8....and she will leave BBS in the wake of each stroke..

I've found that steeper angle makes areas like under the nose a snap, almost like an injector... Guess you can tell I dig this razor..there is nothing about the ER '24 that I don't
love...and those Treet Supers are my person favs aswell... ;)

You must report back with a shave report ASAP!....
