Razor: ER 1924 Blade: GEM SS Brush: Omega 10810 Lather: Cella Post: Pinaud Clubman I'm still recovering from yesterdays bad shave. I tried the Marco method again. This time I took my time loading and the lather was stable. Not completely convinced by this method though, it is messier and takes the same amount of time to lather as lathering drier and progressively adding water. I take more time swirling in the tub in this method, less on the face. While normally I take less time on the tub and more on the face. Its a trade off.

Thursday: hot shower w/HTGAM Cavendish bar soap ShaveSecret PSO Schick L1 2 passes Personna Platinum Chrome (1) StickSchick 2+ passes Personna Platinum Chrome (3) VDH boar HTGAM Cavendish soap (face lathered) Thayer's unscented with aloe HTGAM Cavendish AS balm Petal Pushers HTGAM Cavendish deodorant (notice a pattern here?) I think I bought a dud razor. Got four Schick injectors a couple weeks ago (I2, J1, J2, &L1) and I think the L1 is a dud. I was giving it another bath last night prepping it for this mornings' maiden voyage and noticed the head and spring mechanism didn't seem quite right but the blade seated okay and I don't know much about these razors so I figured it was alright until I tried to shave with it this morning. I'm still not sure exactly what's wrong with it but it seems like there's not enough spring tension to keep the blade in the full forward position so after two passes that did nothing (thought maybe my angle was wrong) I grabbed my StickSchick which was still nearby after Tuesday's shave and gave myself a DFS. I tried member TDMSU's soak the whole puck technique with the big tin of soap and it worked great. I wasn't sure what I'd find when I got out of the shower having left it soaking in a sink full of hot water but it hadn't melted away and when I swirled my brush it rewarded me with the rich tobacco scent of Cavendish. It made for a lot more water atop the puck than what I normally do so I should have shook my brush out better but since I did four passes today I had time to figure out the ratio.
Thursday, January 29 - Face Lather (modified) week Prep: Warm rinse, PSO Razor: Merkur 34HD Blade: Gillette 7 O'Clock SP Soap: Body Shop Maca Root Brush: Omega boar Post: Warm rinse, cold splash, Proraso Green AS I did not shave my face today. Yesterday's shave was soo good that I don't need to shave my face yet, but my head is another matter. I received the Maca Root creme today, so it was my chosen tonight. This was my first soft creme experience. I soaked the brush while I prepped my scalp. I took my shook out brush to the creme and made just about 10 swirls and headed to the skull. The lather built quickly and slickly. A relatively quick first pass was followed by a rinse and more lather. Second pass was a bit more circumspect with more touch and sense with my off hand as I found the stubble strips and I paid much attention to the sound and sense as the razor passed to the hidden zone on the back of my head. A quick rinse followed by 3rd and 4th partial touch up passes in several areas. I wrapped up with a warm then cold water rinse and massaged in the cooling Proraso Green. Nice noggin shave.

Dove Men's Face Wash TOBS Lavender Shaving Cream Parker Pure Badger '62 Gillette Slim Gillette 7 O'Clock Super Stainless CWR Thayers Cucumber WH Aqua Velva Ice Blue It was a very good shave. The TOBS Lavender SC face lathered readily and provided enough for the two passes and touch ups. The Gillette Slim loaded with a Gillette 7 O'Clock Super Stainless gave a near BBS shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Cucumber WH and Aqua Velva Ice Blue leaving me clean, smooth, and refreshed. Nice...

Supreme Glide Preshave lotion Brush: Simpson 56 Best Badger Soap: Van Der Ginger's frankensoap Razor: FaTip Piccolo NIckel Blade: Bic Chrome Platinum (3) Passes: WTG (6) Post: Cold water splash, Captain's Choice Cat o' 9 Tails AS Yesterday's shave was close enough that I nearly didn't shave this AM at all, but decided to go with the 1 quick pass due to an appointment this AM. Given how easily I've lathered both the Ginger's Garden Coffee Jasmine and the Van Der Haagen in the past, I was surprised to have difficulty producing good lather today with the combination; perhaps the mix is less than perfect thus far. DFS results for a single pass, followed with the warmth of the Cat o' 9.

Friday: L'Oreal Men Expert Facial Wash Proraso Green Crema Pre/Dopo Barba #6 Horsehair Super Speed/Permasharp day 5 Proraso Green SS Thayers Witch Hazel Floid Classic AS Azzaro Pour Homme EdT I still have an older version of Proraso Green soap and I like it a lot. The lather is very rich and it's very cooling and nice. The Pre/Dopo cream gave me plenty of additional chill and the witch hazel and Floid Classic aftershave felt so good afterwards. I'm surprised at how well the Permasharp blade is holding out after five shaves. Smooth, fresh and comfortable! Have a great weekend, everybody!

I loaded a new Israeli Red Personna in the Slim and set sail. The Coate’s creams (unfortunately not made anymore) produce an easy, thick, cushioning lather. I had a great shave: smooth, close, and nick free. I finished up with some Clubman. FYI-A stash of the Coate’s creams was found a while back. They are small 50ml travel tubes: $3.95+$0.50 shipping (USA). You can get all six scents here: http://www.coatescream.com/ Bob
