SOTD Feb 7 -- Blade safari day 7

    Prep: hot shower
    Razor: WW2 Gillette Khaki
Blade: Personna Blue Lab (day 3)
    Brush: Vie-Long
    Soap: Proraso White tub
    Passes: 3 (2x WTG, XTG)
    Post: Nivea Men cool kick

Well I dropped the pre-shave and added and extra WTG pass for the same results, smooth but with irritation. I could live with the irritation, if the shave was closer...

    Frank Shaving Finest Badger
    Eversharp I Hydro-Magic
    Schick Stainless (1)
    CWR
    Thayers Cucumber WH
    FD Old Spice AS

First Shave: Today, I had my first shave with this 50+ year old experienced razor. The Van Der Hagen Luxury Shave Soap face lathered well with the Frank Shaving finest badger. I did two passes and some touch ups on the neck with the Eversharp Hydro-Magic and Schick stainless blade. The razor handled wonderfully. The size and shape of the handle seemed very ergonomic to me. A cold water rinse followed by Thayers Cucumber WH and Family Dollar Old Spice AS left me clean, smooth, and refreshed. Very nice...

    Friday morning -

Prep - Noxzema & hot towel
    Lather - Mitchell's Wool Fat & suribachi
    Brush - Omega 40033
    Razor - Gillette Single Ring
    Blade - Feather (10)

    2 pass
Warm water rinse & cold water splash
    Drugstore witch-hazel AS

The tenth shave with the Feather was still acceptably comfortable but I won't be asking for an eleventh from it. :rolleyes005: Still though, no complaints whatsoever and I'm looking forward to a fresh one tomorrow. :)

The Plisson L'Occitane Synthetic brush was very Luxurious. It is very soft and the knot splay quite a bit but not too much just right as any other synthetic it generated ample creamy dense lather. 1st use and am very impressed. It some how splays and has enough back bone and doesn't feel springy like my Muehle Syth.V2. It shines when you use circular motions and you do not get that awkward sensation you get with other Synths when using circular motions it feels more natural.

Can't wait to use it again. This brush has been blowing up another board and I finally succombed to curiousity. Glad I did at $55 it's a keeper. You can get it at L'Occitane website with free shipping.

    Frey's Day:

    Prep:
Hot shower, Crown Shaving Co. Supreme Glide Preshave lotion
    Brush: Simpson 56 Best Badger
    Soap: Van der Ginger's Frankensoap
    Razor: FaTip Piccolo Nickel
    Blade: Bic Chrome Platinum (2)
    Passes: WTG, XTG, (4, 5)
Post: Cold water splash, Dickinson's WH, Captain's Choice Cat o' 9 Tails Bay Rum AS
Cologne: The Third Man by Caron

The 'slight cold' I came down with Tuesday had me light-headed and sneezing enough in the past few days that I thought it was probably a bad idea to hold a blade to my face or neck. I'm on the mend enough today that I got back in there with a nice two-pass shave for a DFS result, with no nicks, weepers, or irritation. I worked the frankensoap into a better lather this time than the first time I used the combination, which helped a lot. Finishing off, I like the way the bay rum scent complements the clove note in The Third Man cologne, though again I'm surprised at the relative lack of 'burn' from the aftershave, given its reputation.

    Merkur Progress (41/2)
    Gillette 7 o'clock black (1)

Arko Max comfort after shave cologne

The 444 leaves my face soft and protected. If you haven't tried HTGAM you owe it to yourself to do so! It will not disappoint. The Progress is becoming my favorite razor. I had a small nick on my chin, alum fixed it right up. Another CCS.

    Solid shave
I went back to TSD Signature Lanolin soap this morning, and I was not disappointed. My HIS easily whipped up great lather, and the Mag Type performed well. I used the Synergy balm before my ATG pass again, and I think this will become my routine. Tomorrow I'm going to try it with my Old Type and it's regular handle. The signature scent pairs well with the Krampert's.
