Yesterday I had done a blood draw at the Doctors. My results came back along with an email from my Doctor. Everything is in the normal range. He wrote continue to do the things your doing. That's living! Amen.
Ok, so get this... 2 minutes. 2 minutes before the pep rally begins, the person "running things" says, oh, we're going to need a projector and screen set up. I looked her square in the eyes and said, "Are you freakin' kidding me? Why in the h*ll didn't you at least say something first thing this morning? It ain't happening." I think she was pissed, but dang. It's a 45 minute job to set up a projector in the gym, if I'm in a rush and have help. People astound me sometimes.
Hey Geno.... we've missed you around here. I'm just back from vacation and way behind on my Delta Quadrant podcasts. But, more reason to goof off at work. I mean, uh... work efficiently so as to have time to listen.... Mike, I found Dave and my missing Penguinator! They were here getting the apartment all cleaned up for my return from vacation. They forgot to clean all the snow off my car, but I had a hot meal waiting! How could I be mad at them? I did tell Dave that he should have left you a note at least.
I had a good work day. But then I got home, and while walking from the car to the house, slipped on an ice pacth & landed on my bum.
Thank goodness you have the fluffy tail to pad your fall. Hope you're not aching too much nonetheless.
Told ya he would surface! When I told the other minions Brian kinda shuffled his feet, looking all glum. He found the note but used it for folding paper airplanes practice... Oh well. They're not bad but sometimes a bit thoughtless. How was the vacation btw?
I'm glad to have gotten away, but Puerto Rico probably wasn't my best choice. The weather was nice, mostly, but the beach was dirty and crowded and not a lot to do in the area where I stayed. Plus the local cuisine, while tasty, isn't at all that healthy.... everything breaded and or fried plus everything served with a lot of starch. Many of the people there, clearly have a weight problem, no doubt the diet is part of the issue. But, then something like 1/3 of US population is also very overweight. Thankfully, most of the folks were willing and able to speak at least some English, although I did have to fake a little Spanish with taxi drivers.
Oh, sure. The best part, frankly, was not having a schedule and just being able to sit in the sun by the pool and read and relax. But, I also did some sightseeing in Old San Juan which was interesting.
How's my day? Too busy. Too busy today, too busy yesterday, and in fact the past week or two has been too busy so I got a real bang out of the following that appeared in my church's bulletin this morning in the midst of my busyness. It's an antithesis to the 23rd Psalm composed by Marcia K Hornok and first appeared in Discipleship Journal, Issue #60, 1990 Psalm 23 Antithesis The clock is my dictator, I shall not rest. It makes me lie down only when exhausted, It leads me to deep depression. It hounds my soul. It leads me in circles of frenzy for activities sake. Even though I run frantically from task to task, I will never get it done, For my "ideal" is with me. Deadlines and my need for approval, They drive me. They demand performance from me, beyond The limits of my schedule. They anoint my head with migraines. My in-basket overflows. Surely fatigue and time pressure shall follow me All the days of my life, And I will dwell in the bonds of Frustration forever.
Tired im workin two jobs and going to school, and my woman dont understand why im tired or dont have much time. I just want to sleep when i wake up lol
Called my last ballgame of the season on Friday night. Went to a Church leadership seminar on Saturday, and Church on Sunday. Was really hoping that my family (some of whom don't attend any church at all, the rest subscribe to different doctrines) would show up. I was really kind of let down. I told them all that what I wanted for my birthday was to fill a pew. I've gotten a lot of positive response, but so far, no one has taken me up on it. Just watch, if they do show up, it'll be next week when we have a guest speaker. That's always the way. On the other hand, the topic of yesterday's sermon was not an easy one, and it would likely have been a hot-button. So it's probably for the best that it wasn't their introduction to the Church.
For many years I considered Jon Pertwee to be the least of the Doctors. The goofy hair, the frock coat, the Venusian karate, and the cheap production values confirmed my opinion. However- having watched several episodes from his era in a row, I have had a profound change of heart. The writing was excellent. The special effects are cheesy, but it's the best they could do in the early 70s. And most of all, compared against the late 80s Doctor (esp. Colin Baker) the overall quality really stands out. Now you may return to your regularly scheduled programming.
I come from a family where I have 4 siblings. I am the middle child. All of us went to parochial school. Aside from me, only my mother & father still attend church. My siblings want nothing to do with organized religion, nor hear anything related to God or the Good News. I still invite them every opportunity, particularly to the 'major' services (Christmas & Easter, when families are together). Speaking of hot button topics, we have just started a 14-week sermon series on the Book of Romans. The apostle Paul covers a number of doctrinal and societal issues that will no doubt offend many here in the SF bay area, and after the first few weeks we have already received considerable feedback—most of it favorable.
