Uhh, what kind of "cheap sharpener" did you use?

I hope your not refering to a knife sharpener.
If this is the case I highly recommend you do some research on what it takes to hone a razor and the tests to check a razors ability to shave. A sharp knife is not as sharp as a straight razor, and honing a razor is not possible on something as coarse as a cheap sharpener.

You can't get a razor shave ready with a knife sharpener, they need to be honed. And it's generally a bad idea to use a belt unless you're keeping your pants up with a strop.

Best to get it honed from either http://www.gemstarcustoms.com or http://www.straightrazordesigns.com

Either will get your razor truly shave ready.

I found that out also the belt was made of genuine leather im going to see if i cant get it honed at a local barber shop

Genuine leather is one thing, however the surface of the belt and the design is something too. For instance, if you have stitching on it, you've probably stropped grooves into the edge of the blade.

it was the back of the belt and the razor looks fine just needs a cutting edge

Take it from a guy who has made alot of mistakes (Me). You need the right tools when straight shaving. A genuine leather belt has dyes and other factors that make it unuseable for stropping a razor.
I too tried a knife shaprener and found it to be a big mistake.
If you need help I will hone your razor for free if you send it my way. PM me if your interested.

If you'll be ordering a hone for keeping the edge shave ready, try to get something 12,000 - 16,000 grit; those are enough to refresh edges and even a little more on the touch up end if needed, make sure you don't end up with some fine grit knife hones that will bugger up the bevel of your razor :)
