2/28/14 Prep: Hot shower and application of homemade PSO Lather: Stirling Coniferous Brush: Vie-Long 13601 Razor: Gillette Tech triangle slot Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (1) Post: Cold water rinse and Captain's Choice Lime 3 pass. Not smooth under chin and on neck. Tech seems sort of "light" in my hands now after focusing on Merkur HD for a while. Will run with the Tech for the next week and work on angle, technique, etc. Brush was a little scratchy feeling this morning.

Prep:None Razor: GEM Junior Blade: Treet Brush: Omega 10810 Lather: Pre de Provence soap Post: Target-brand hand lotion Passes: Sides;XTG,ATG Chin: WTG,WTG, touch up results: DFS Looks like another soap has fallen victim to the '24, as I found out last night. So today I used the PdP with the Jr. The lather is very slick and I found the soap wasn't drying. It smells like laundry detergent to me... Or to put it on a more positive way: "like laundry hanging outside in a cool breeze laying out to dry." I initially experienced some burn yesterday so I left the lid open to air out the soap. Looks like it worked. Zero burn. PS I love the foamy look on the PdP. Dried lather doesn't usually look this graceful on soaps.
http://nicksandweepers.wordpress.com/2014/02/28/sotd-22814/ Prep: hot shower, Nivea face scrub Razor: Schick M-type adjustable Blade: Schick Stainless Soap: Razorock Don Marco Brush: Simpson TSN P8 Post: Thayers Rose With Hazel, 100% Shea Butter I was so excited when this razor was in my mailbox tonight. Have been wanting an M-type for a while bit prices are high and condition is usually low. Paid a little bit more but got almost mint condition. Broke out the Don Marco from Razorock to lather up. I have a confusing relationship with this soap. The soap has a nice citrus scent from the Bergamot but it almost reminds me of a urinal puck. I really like the smell though so it’s tough. I’m trying to trick my brain. It lathers so well as you can see in the picture. This brush is incredible too! Nice backbone to handle the soft soap but very soft on the face. Very very smooth shave from this combo. No tugging or irritation. May just have to dial this bad boy up and see how close I can get without scraping too much skin off my face!
Friday 2/28/2014 Merkur Progress 4/3/2.5 Personna Lab VDH Pure Badger Pre-Shave Oil Louie's Coconut Lime Soap Aftershave "Blash" Prototype Balm/Splash-Lime Note to self: Never, ever , never use that brush again. Sometimes I like to test my product thoroughly, put it through its paces so to speak, so I use less than optimal hardware or conditions (ie cold water lathering etc). This was the case here. It felt like I was rubbing pine needles over my face when I applied the lather. That being said I will not be using the good old VDH Badger anytime soon. Its the one that started it all for me (first brush) but man is it a rough road on the face. The good news is that even with it and cold water, lathering went fine. Experiment over! lol
01/28/14 Warm shower Nivea menthol face wash Merkur Progress (4) Voskhod (2) Semogue 750 Cella Cold rinse Alum Cold rinse Clubman VI Bay Rum 444 Why does Cella market a really good product in a tub that is so small?! Once again everything worked well together. Bye Bye February. Hello March.
It's nice - very clean and neutral so it won't clash with an edt or a cologne. Its skincare is also brilliant.
Bonus Head Shave - 2/28/14 I decided to work on breaking in my new Vie-Long and so made some lather and made some more lather and made some more lather. After I washed the brush and placed it back on its stand, I grabbed my Omega 13522 and gave it a little soak and then made some lather with it. The lather was so good that I decided to shave my head. So I grabbed the Gold Tech with Gillette Superthin blade and lathered the scalp and got after it. 3 passes and my skull is like a cue ball! Finished off with Aqua Velva decanted in a nice glass booze bottle from my son's Austria travels. Excellent shave to finish off the month.

Friday, February 28, 2014 Prep: Warm shower, Cetaphil Lotion Razor: EJ DE89L Blade: Voskhod (2) Soap: Stirling Barber Shop Brush: Semogue 830 Post: Witch Hazel, Cetaphil Lotion Aftershave: Pinaud Clubman I had a rare evening shave today and it turned out great. The Stirling worked very well as always. The Clubman was a bottle that I picked up at a yard sale a while back. I'm guessing it is around 30 years old. The scent is not exactly the same as current day Clubman, but every bit as good smelling. It's definitely a little stronger. Have a great day!

Worst shave of my life tonight. Prep: hot shower, Cremo Face Wash. Brush: Turkish #6 Brush. Razor: '62 Gillette Slim set on 6 for the first pass, 3 for the second pass. Blade: Personna Med Prep. Soap: Tiki soap Surf's Up. Post: cold water rinse, Myrsol Metilsol, Phyto Balm. I don't know what happened, but this shave was the worst ever. It was more painful than my first time with a DE. There was no slickness to the soap whatsoever. The first pass wasn't bad, but by the end of my second pass, my neck was on fire and looked like a Butcher's block. I have never bled so much after a shave. After a few cuss words and trying to fix the lather, I rinsed off and did my post shave prep. My face and neck hurt.
