Nice review Gary. As a big fan of the Trac II I find this concept to be very interesting.

Well I have never gotten this good of shave from a Trac II or from some standard DEs for that matter. However, I am still holding judgment based on life span.

Day 4 with the Rapira Supersteel Blades in the Twin Configuration.

Day 4 went excellently as did the prior days. A two pass BBS on the face and a two pass BBS on the head. The razor worked exactly as it should with no issues whatsoever. I shaved at 5 AM and after 12 hours the shave is better than my Slim or EJ89 after 10 hours. All in all another great shave. So far so good on blade life but there is more testing needed.

So, Gary, in the case with the Saiver razor, would you say that a 2-pass shave is truly synonymous with a 4 pass shave? IOW, that both blades are truly cutting at the same angle and approach to give a 2-pass shave on each sweep?

I guess so. Using DE blades would make me afraid of future irritation or nicks.

So far it has behaved fine. No issues and really handles no differently than a standard DE except you know there are two sets of blades.

For guys with heavy beard growth or head shavers, this type of razor could be significant.

Be sure he follows my instruction set of photos, which is an expanded version of the set on the razor (which of course is in Russian).

Excellent review and a unique razor. I'm one of those who waits until the last minute to rush out of bed and jump in the shower then shave and though this may be an efficient razor, I agree with you that the time saved in shaving would equal the amount of time if not more to insure proper alignment of upper blade.

Great review! That's an interesting piece of equipment. Would be curious to know if anyone else around has tried one of these.

Tristan, a person who is a member of another forum has used it and has come to similar conclusions. He is using the combed / bar version. He started shortly after I did. I am going for a longer term review of the razor and tomorrow is another testing day.

Have the travel version of the same razor. Truly tiny and light. Ends up being a bit mild for my taste (usual is an E1 Schick Injector or Merkur Slant). Good shaves but really odd feeling I think due to the very smooth top cap and safety bar. It almost feels like there is suction forming between the head and my skin. Rather tall head makes trimming around nose a little tricky, similar to a Fat Boy.

Since I grow a Van Dyke the mustache portion keeps me from testing with it but I can see the resemblance in height to a Fat Boy now that you mention it.

It is hard for me to tell the difference between today's shave and the shave for day 2. I look forward to tomorrow's shave.
