Looks like one. A B-1. Nice find. I believe they called them "Repeaters". http://www.safetyrazors.net/schick/schicktech.htm
If the repeater mechanism is working well that is a a real awesome find. If it fails, you can still manually load the blade.
I hadn't seen one of those before. Super nice find. I also love the fact that it cleaned up so nicely but still has a nice, warm "glow," at least to my eyes. It's not quite a patina, just the weight of age. Looks great.
Thanks Guys! I haven't shaved with it, yet? I will give it a go tonight!!! As far as traveling, I wonder if these could get by TSA. It would be sweet if it would because I think I could easily load 10 blades inside. That should be at least 10 weeks of shaving! I loaded it with 8 Personna blades and it repeated perfectly.
I wouldn't risk it getting mauled by the TSA foremost; it just isn't easily replaced. But, I bet you'd be guaranteed for it to raise a flag b/c they won't know what it is. As a side note, I usually travel with an L1 injector (relatively easy to replace) and only once had a problem. It was in a leather case in my carry on and it got questioned as they didn't know what it was. Once I took it out and showed them it was a razor, it was no problem.
It is really heavy for its size. It is one of those razors that looks huge in pictures. When you see a size comparison gives a different perspective on it.
You are going to tell us your cleaning method, right? (even if it was just Scrubbing Bubbles and elbow grease!) Quite the transformation!
* As a WARNING do NOT use this technique on a Gillette razor or any other Schick!* In those pictures all I did was soak in dish soap and water, then Scrubbing Bubbles and a toothbrush, and a cotton ball rub down with Tarn-X. In the picture below I used Nevr-Dull and a lot of hand polishing with a microfiber polish cloth.
