That was probably my post about buying it at Walmart. You won't find the balm in the shaving section. Look in the cologne section; you should find it there.

SOTD March 15 -- Blade safari day 40

    Prep: hot towel
Razor: WW2 Gillette Khaki with ball end handle
    Blade: Gillette Platinum (day 4)
    Brush: Vie-Long
    Soap: Col Conk lime
    Passes: 2 (WTG, XTG)
    Post: alum, Proraso blue

Practice make perfect, and after three days with the Col. Conk soap it's starting to show. Lather was far from perfect, but steadily getting better.
My face has been pretty dry lately, so I went bask to the Proraso blue AS lotion. I'm going to have to make sure I don't run out as I really enjoy this stuff.

Mid-Day Shave on a Restful Saturday

    Prep: Hot Shower
Pre-Shave: Face Wash with 365 French Milled Glycerin Soap
    Brush: Col Conk Pure Badger
Lather: Classic Brand Soap (Large Cake, Sandlewood) with a drop of Proraso Red
    Razor: 1954 Gillette Super Speed
    Blade: Voskhod
Shave: WTG, XTG, ATG, Blade Buffing trouble spots
Post: Hot Rinse, Witch Hazel, Cold Rinse
Inspection: A Kiss from the Wifey, she approved

Got some new gear at a Pastor's conference last week, so trying some out this week. Probably got the best lather I have ever gotten today (adding the drop of Proraso Red). The Voskhod blades (been using one all week) give me a great shave, but I seem to get a shadow earlier. The shave feels tremendous when it's done, but doesn't seem to last as long.

Still, a shave in the middle of the day after a restful morning with the family, that's a welcome blessing!

    Razor: ER 1914
    Blade: GEM (7)
    Brush: Semogue 830
    Lather: Synergy Cavendish
Post: Pinaud Passes: sides; XTG,ATG. chin; WTG,WTG results:DFS

Despite the blade exposure this '14 isn't as close a shaver as some of my other razors. I'm finding I'm liking the Synergy less and less...Tossed the blade. Needed it for scraping tape residue...

Day 4/30 using the ER 1914.

    Tonight's shave.

Prep: hot shower, Cremo Face Wash.
    Brush: Turkish #6 Brush.
    Razor: Schick Krona.
    Blade: Polsiver SI.
Soap: MdC sample (finished tonight.) :(
Post: cold water rinse, Fine Aftershaves Razorock XXX AS.

Well, I used the last of my MdC. It will be sorely missed. If I wasn't poor, I'd buy a jar of it. Or maybe I'll sell a bunch of stuff to get some. Maybe. It left me with a BBS shave with little effort. Everything just fell into place on tonight's shave. The Fine Aftershaves Razorock XXX AS is a gem too. It has good skincare and a pretty noticeable menthol effect. I felt little to no burn when I applied it.

The silver lining is that the container I used to have the MdC sample in now holds Klar Kabinett that I was recently PIF'd.

    Sunday:
hot shower w/Yardley Pomegranate Rose bar soap
    homemade PSO
    Robeson straight 2 passes
    StickSchick 1 pass
    Personna Platinum Chrome (5)
    VDH Deluxe boar
VDH Glycerin soap with a squirt of Cremo
    Thayer's Rose Petal w/aloe

Hadn't used the VDH Glycerin in a long time and I'd forgotten how much product it takes to make a good lather. I added a squirt of Cremo because I'm still very much a newbie using the straight and I always try to have as much slickery (yeah, it's a word) as possible. Did my touch up with the StickSchick but it looks like no NASCAR at Bristol today with nothing but rain in the forecast.

Three delightful passes got me so BBS that I'm almost as smooth as my wife and daughter. I absolutely LOVE the Palmolive Menthol cream - the Italian version has such a nice minty scent which fills the bathroom while you're lathering up and shaving. This set-up would be awesome for tomorrow being Menthol Monday, but I'll be using a very special soap instead. BTW, the Rubby Dubby Doo actually is slightly colder than the Penguin. ;) :D

    Sunday:

Prep: Hot compress, TSD Jasmine Sambac Preshave Balm
    Brush: Simpson 56 Best Badger
Soap: RazoRock Cumba Cheech Jasmine & Orange Blossom croap
    Razor: Merkur 41c 1904 OC
    Blade: Bic Chrome Platinum (2)
    Passes: WTG, XTG, ATG (3, 4, 5)
Post: Cold water splash, Dickinson's WH, RazoRock Cumba Cheech Jasmine & Orange Blossom ASB
Cologne: Jasmin et Cigarette by ELdO

I believe the phrase for today is "wildly irresponsible amounts of lather." Fifteen seconds worth of swirling on top of the croap, and I had enough lather for six passes, had I needed it. Unfortunately, by forgoing the pre-shave shower, my neck wasn't QUITE as well prepped as it might have been, as evidenced by a couple of weepers on the ATG pass. Otherwise, I got BBS results, and if I were any more well covered in jasmine, I'd be a Disney movie with Robin Williams.

    Voskhod Teflon Coated (2)
    CWR
    Thayers Cucumber WH
    Pinaud Clubman AS

The Van Der Hagen Deluxe shaving soap lathered well with the Frank Shaving Finest badger brush. Two passes with the Gillette Slim and Voskhod Teflon Coated blade left me with a near BBS shave. I finished off with a cold water rinse followed by Thayers Cucumber WH and Pinaud Clubman after shave. Clean, smooth, and refreshed...
