I have posted on a number of threads, but realized that I did not take the time to introduce myself to the forum. I'm an expat living in Hong Kong, and I've recently moved into DE/SR shaving after years of using disposable cartridges that would leave my face torn up and a shave that was not very good. I've been using brushes and creams/soaps for about 4yr, therefore that aspect of wet shaving is not entirely new to me. However, joining a number of forums, this one included, opened up a whole new world with regards to different types of soap/creams and the joy of using a proper DE and soon a SR. Since switching, I actually look forward the to daily ritual and have enjoyed the best shaves I've ever had. I wish I did this earlier. In any case, I look forward to sharing my experiences as I continue down this path. Glad to be part of the group.
Welcome to our group. Hong Kong is a pretty neat place. I was on a Pan Am 747 returning from a tour of duty in Thailand many years ago and spent the night in Hong Kong. I experienced the "Checkerboard" approach in to the old Kai Tak Airport in Kowloon. Stayed in a great hotel on Hong Kong Island. The next day did a little sightseeing; made it over to Repulse Bay. The ride over and back to the hotel was spectacular. Please let us know if we can be of assistance.
Welcome to the Den. We know you'll fit right in. So grab yourself a comfy chair, and give our threads a spin! Burma Shave
Welcome! Where in Hong Kong are you? On the island or up in Kowloon? I get over there from time to time and never miss the Mong Kok market....
Welcome, nice to have you here. I have always wanted to visit Hong Kong. Maybe one day I will get to.
If any if you guys are coming through Hong Kong, let me know and we can get together. I've been around here for 9yrs and know my way around fairly well. However, I'm still searching for those elusive places that have wet shaving products. I've found good areas to find sharpening stones for those of use dabbling with SR, but nothing much on the DE side other than over priced shops in Central. Again, drop me a line if you are coming through.
I may be there for a trade show in September. Would love a local guide for some good shave gear, and will PM you when it's finalized. In return, if there is anything you can't get locally, I can bring you a USA care package...
