Hi folks, I'm glad to see a Special Projects section, I enjoy some DIY and doing a bit of repurposing. I thought I would share with the group my latest endeavour.

I purchased two empty Cigar boxes from a local shop with the intention of making some sort of storage for shaving related items.

I removed the stickers from the one on the right and sealed it either four coats of Danish oil.

On the inside I set a padded shelf and covered it in fleece to accept the razors.

I'm sorry about the quality of the pics I didn't realise they were quite as bad, I'll do better the next time. :D

Thanks, I cut down a cardboard box then made some layers of cardboard and cut out the recess then glued a double layer of fleece over the topmm

"VERY" nice display/strorage box!! I love to repurpose cigar boxes, I store my razor blade packs, and some of my razors in cigar boxes also..Some cigar boxes have a clear viewing window and an insert for holding the cigars individually and are great ready made boxes for storing/displaying Straight razors...Nothing as nice as yours though...I like the size of the box your using for this project..Could you tell us the dimensions HxWxD? :happy088:

Not much of a better pic, but here it is anyway.

    H 90mm W 112mm D 140mm

I am going to go back and see if I can get one of the slimmer type of boxes and try and do something with that.

    Cheers.

Is there anything on the lid to hold them in place if the box gets turned over? Great idea for storing razors.

Nice job and it seems rather easy to make by your description. I definitely like the idea of keeping extra blades in one.

No the lid just slides in place.

It's worth having a go, the boxes are inexpensive and look great.

    Thank you.

This is very nice, I am in the middle of my own project to house and display my Fat-boy and Birth-year Slim. Mine are in a nice little timber box that used to house incense (Out with the smelly and In with the sharp). I also used the "top to Tail" format but closer and staggered a bit. I like how the base and lining came out for you. I HOPE mine comes out that nicely. Will post pics when done (DO NOT hold your breath while you wait because i get very busy and my projects are NEVER what you could call "Whirlwind Projects". KUDOS :signs107::signs154:
