Well since I was bugged out my testing of my straights went right out the window. This morning: Braun 590CC while driving down the highway.
Thanks guys! Robert makes some excellent handles and shaving brush kits. Check them out: http://www.eliterazor.com/
Razor: GEM MMOC (2) Blade: TP GEM (1) Brush: Semogue 830 Lather: Arko Post: Pinaud Like "silk on silk" as I saw in a GEM ad. The MMOC gets a bad rap for being aggressive but not IMO and it can be very smooth if used right. They work at their best with a Treet carbon steel blade for me but this time I used a Pella SS blade for very good results. Near BBS in 2 passes.
Steve, I am afraid that I am a city kid, so I had to ask my wife about castration bands (she is a veterinarian, now retired from active practice). She explained! I am really curious about your coyote calls. Is this for hunting them, like a duck call? We have coyotes in the woods here in the outskirts of Seattle. They sure make a lot of racket when a fire truck goes by. I guess the sound of the siren really gets them worked up. They don't really seem to be afraid of people or cars. You see them occasionally walking through the neighborhood crossing streets and sidewalks.
Saturday Cella (from brick) face lathered with Omega 49 Slim Adjustable with Asco SS blade (1) 3 passes, cold water rinse and finish with Lilac Vegetal The Asco blade did well, first time I've tried the brand
Saturday, March 22 Same set-up, same DFS. However, I must comment on the best part of my morning ritual: the post-shave test, i.e., my wife rubbing her cheek against mine and saying, "Mmmm. Smooth." Love it.
Saturday: Neutrogena Men Facial Wash Large Horsehair Barbershop Super Speed/Rapira day 6 Arko Ice Mint SC Gillette Series Intense Cooling AS Balm Floid Classic AS Just the kind of shave which I look forward to on the weekend - slow, relaxed, and unhurried which resulted in so much pleasure and a mega-BBS finish. I just started a new Arko Ice Mint tube and it lathers so richly for me with great menthol cooling. The Gillette Intense Cooling balm is indeed very intensely-cooling, and the Floid Classic aftershave is another face-freezer which I love.
Dove Men's Face Wash TOBS Lavender Shaving Cream Semogue 1305 Boar Brush '62 Gillette Slim Voskhod Teflon (3) CWR Thayers Cucumber WH Pinaud Clubman AS The Cemogue 1305 boar brush continues to deliver excellent face lathering experiences. Today, it delivered with TOBS Lavender Shaving Cream. Two passes and clean up on the neck with my '62 Gillette Slim and a Voskhod Teflon Coated blade left me near BBS. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Cucumber WH and Pinaud Clubman after shave. Once again, I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
Gillette LC New Bulldog Silver Star Blade Oscar11 Purple Boar Tet-a-Tet SC & ASB A small amount of irritation, but a better than average shave this morning.
Saturn's Day (Speick Saturday): Prep: Hot shower, Neutrogena Deep Clean Gentle Scrub, TSD Jasmine Sambac Preshave balm Brush: Simpson 56 Best Badger Soap: Ginger's Garden Oakmoss Razor: Merkur 41c 1904 OC Blade: Bic Chrome Platinum (3) Passes: WTG, XTG (6, 7) Post: Cold water splash, Dickinson's WH, Speick AS Cologne: Ispazon by Parfums de Marly In keeping with the week's theme, I used the Oakmoss glycerin soap instead of my usual Speick cream for a Saturday. I bowl lathered to give the preshave balm a little longer to soften my beard before lathering up; it didn't seem to affect lather stability one way or another, as I'm wondering more and more if there's something incompatible between the preshave balm from TSD and Irena's soaps - or if it's just my skin chemistry. With the added step of the Neutrogena, I only needed two passes to get nearly BBS result, with the Bic apparently rounding into shape for less obvious sharpness without any loss of performance.
