Dab yer picked up a soup bowl, small and squat, with wide brim for dipping crusty farmhouse bread in. Makes a nice looking shaving bowl tho' Visionary.........
I used this 'mini-scuttle' yesterday—and it certainly qualifies as a 'small bowl'—but it does keep the lather toasty warm.
That's a nice scuttle. Is it big enough so you can actually build the lather in it - and what brand it is?
Made by Robert Becker; same maker who built my full-sized scuttle. He called it his 'travel scuttle' and I have taken it with me on a few road trips. Because the interior has the ridge pattern inside, developing a decent lather in a small space works pretty well. It holds about a cup & 3/4 of hot water. Ideal when using the Wee Scot brush.
I use this...it is a ceramic bowl I made myself when I was visiting my daughter during dad's weekend at her college. I tried to do the spider web thing on the inside, but when my daughter glazed it the grooves kind of filled in with glaze. This will have to hold me over until I can afford a shuttle.
... or an Omega 40033! L-R : Wee Scot, Omegas 40033 & 10066 I use a sort of DIY scuttle with my suribachi, and it'd work with your bowl as well. Basically just find another slightly smaller bowl that fits underneath and put your hot water in it. Then your bowl just "nests" on top. It's a simple solution but also versatile one. And it definitely works great at keeping your lather nice an' warm!
I use this scuttle daily. The inner bowl is dimpled and shaped like those dime store fish bowls with a smaller rim than bowl - which helps build the lather and keep it from spilling over the rim. It's also thick enough ceramic such that hot tap water keeps it warm. Nice shaves ever since I got it! Handmade by Shawn @ Carved Rock https://www.etsy.com/shop/CarvedRock
A nice ceramic bowl, made by a local potter. Not sure what it was originally intended to be but likely a cereal bowl. Makes a damn fine shaving bowl though!
A coffee creamer. Love the spout. Yes that's Boosters Hair creme. Just as good as Brylcreme without the grease.
The one on the left when I bowl lather(creams). It's a dessert bowl made of crystal. Looking for a small chinese noodle bowl to replace it, as I think the shape would be better. The one on the right when I face lather(soaps). It's the one from the Van der Hagen "Premium" shave set.
These are a couple of my bowls / mugs This one holds a puck of vintage Williams This looks like a large coffee or soup Mug
