    Monday, March 24 - Menthol Monday + 100th Anniversary of the Ever-Ready 1914
L'Oreal Icy Gel Face Wash, 2 hot towels
    TSD Iced Subzero Pre-shave Balm
    Simply Beautiful Badger brush, soaked
    C. O. Bigelow, 4 drops of TSD "M" Bomb
    Ever-Ready 1914
    Gem Blue Star (1)
Cold water, Thayers Witch Hazel, styptic pencil, cold water, Thayers
Neutrogena Triple-Protect Face Lotion (I intended to use Osage Rub, but my face was too torn up.)

My experience with SE razors is limited, so let's just say this didn't go well. (Many of you probably guessed that after reading "cold water, thayers, styptic pencil, cold water, thayers.") I had so much styptic pencil residue on my face by the time I was done that I looked like Heath Ledger's "Joker."

    Monday

    Prep: CeraVe facial cleanser
    Soap: TSD unscented soap
    Brush: Plisson synthetic
    Razor: iKon ShaveCraft 101
    Blade: Astra SP
After: Cold rinse, TSD unscented aftershave milk

I am taking a tour of my unscented soaps, using exactly the same hardware everyday.

Day 1: Tiki Bar unscented soap
    Day 2, 3: Mike's Natural unscented soap
Day 4: HTGAM Synergy unscented soap
Day 5: Petal Pusher Fancies "Scentsless soap
Day 6: Barrister & Mann unscented soap
Day 7: Mystic Water unscented soap
Day 8: The Shave Den unscented wheat cream
Day 9: The Shave Den unscented soap

Pleasant shave with the TSD soap. Today was the first lather from a new cake of TSD that I bought last year and had stored in a cabinet. The soap was harder than it is when fresh, so I soaked it several minutes and added a couple of drops of glycerin when loading up. TSD soap had always been a dependable performer for me, and I got a good creamy lather and a comfortable shave.

I finished with TSD unscented aftershave milk, a thin white lotion. It is pleasant and soothing and soaks in quickly. The unscented variety has no added fragrance, but there is a nice rose scent when applied that comes from rose water, that is one of the ingredients. The rose fragrance is mild and disappears quickly after application.

    Physical Description:

TSD Unscented soap: a hard veggie-based soap. Previous cakes I used were a pale gray color, but this cake surprised me with its darker greenish-gray color. I believe that comes from variations in the color of the bentonite clay ingredient. The soap has a very neutral scent.

    Menthol Monday:

Prep: Hot shower, Healthy Accents Daily Renewal Cleanser, TSD Jasmine Sambac Preshave balm
    Brush: Simpson 56 Best Badger
Soap: Ginger's Garden Grass Stain Menthol Snow
    Razor: Merkur 41c 1904 OC
    Blade: Bic Chrome Platinum (1)
    Passes: WTG, XTG, ATG (1, 2, 3)
Post: Cold water rinse, Dickinson's WH, Lucky Tiger Menthol Vanishing Cream ASB
    Cologne: Xeryus by Givenchy

This might be the closest shave I've ever gotten. Rather than soaking the brush/soap during my shower, I waited until after I got out, then washed with the Daily Renewal, applied the preshave balm, and brushed my teeth (Jasmine Mint from Marvis:love029:). Despite the brush being a little too wet - suds went flying during the initial face lather - the lather was thick, slick, and stable, and my face is as smooth as it was when I was 12.

Good shave. No irritation. Nearest to BBS I've gotten with the MMOC so far.

When I got my ER1914, I only shaved once before in November. It was too hard to shave with. It is all in the angle and light touch with this razor. Flat on the face, with a light touch is what it takes for me. Today, my second shave with the ER14, was an unqualified success.

Glad to hear it. I'm not ready to give up just yet. I have a few more of the classic SE razors, and some Don Juan blades Weeper Warrior PIFed to me. At some point, I'll try them again. At the same time, everyone should keep an eye on my posts; I might have some SE razors available for a decent trade sometime down the road. ;)

I can shave faster with a DE, but the MM Bullet-tip is the easiest SE for me to shave with. I have a bunch from 1912s, a 1924, MMOC, MM Clog-pruf, Feather-weight, Push-button, ... The hardest to shave with for me was the 1924 Shovelhead. It will be a while before I revisit that, but all the others deliver great shaves if you get your angle right. My 1914 has a monster blade exposure. It is like shaving with a straight on a stick. The others are much more forgiving. I suggest the Clog-pruf or Bullet-tip for the best/easiest shaves.

I too can shave faster with a DE but SEs give me a much more comfortable shave. I personally didn't care much for the 1914. I used it for about 10 days, 7 days straight. I couldn't get a BBS. Despite it's blade exposure (more than the '24) it felt on the mild side. I think it is because the blade gap is much less than on the '24. As of today no other SE can match the shaves I get from the '24. It gives me a BBS practically every time and without discomfort. This just illustrates, Jayaruh, the huge nature of "YMMV."

Have any of you ordered the super mentholated Fine Snake bite AS? I have used his regular formula it has incredible amounts of menthol. I am afraid of 5 times that much. It has to hurt!
