Ok, not sure why...but I ended up buying a Gillette Deluxe Trac II.
It was described to be in near-mint condition and in original box and stuff - for $10 shipped I thought it couldn't be a complete waste of money...or..was it?

Can I still get cartridges for this thing and if so, how does it shave?

    Did I do ok?

I use a Trac II for carry-on airline travel. You can still get carts for them but the Gillette's are pretty expensive. You can find Personnas for about $3/10 if you look around though. Lots of stores have them.

Blades are still commonly available - I've seen them at Walmart. There are many here who still have one in their rotation; I'm sure someone will weigh in before long. You payed a fair price.

Personna makes them. They can be had for $18 for 50 cartridges from Amazon.

That was a great deal for an outstanding razor! It should have a date code on it if you're interested in knowing when it was made. Trac II carts are easy to find pretty much anywhere that sells shaving supplies like Walmart, CVS etc.

Nice find and it's my choice of cart system.
