Tech Week - 3/26/14 Prep: Hot shower followed by PSO. Lather: Stirling SDM w/ Omega Pro 49 in the Captain's Choice bowl. Razor: Ball-end Tech with an Astra SP blade (1). Post: Cold H2O rinse and a splash of Lime Sec. Music: Van Morrison cranked on the Bluetooth speaker. 3 pass, DFS. First exposure to both the Sharp Dressed Man and the Astra blades. The scent of the SDM will have to grow on me. I liked the blade immediately. Now let's see if it has legs.
My first head shave with a DE. I have used carts before, but it was more hastle than what I wanted to deal with. I was long over due for my buzz, and while mowing down what little hair I do have left, I decided to give it a go. I used my favorite setup, one that I am most comfortable with. Razor: Merkur 1904 Blade: Grocery Store (Personna) Soap: VDH Luxury Brush: VDH Boar Post: Alum & Witch Hazel Aftershave: Pinaud Clubman

My FIRST DECENT SHAVE WITH A VINTAGE RAZOR! Just shy of DFS in all the problem places, but I'll take it. Just a couple nicks. Gives me hope that I have a chance with some of my others. I hope everyone had a great Tech Week!
Friday: hot shower w/Wm Neumann Lavender bar soap Maggard Lavender PSO Gillette FatBoy (9) 3 passes Astra SP (2) VDH Deluxe boar LASS Topanga Fougere (sample) Thayers Lavender w/aloe Florida Water cologne Well, I've regained my composure after Wednesday's "throw my golf clubs in the water" episode. And by the way, I did pull my puck of soap out of the trash, gave it a good talking to, and sent it to bed without supper. One more chance someday trying Steve's method but that's it. Today's shave was so close it was on the edge of being dangerous. I can't believe I'm going to say this but I may need to back off the throttle a bit using an Astra SP in my FatBoy. Anything less than full bore just seems wrong but after today's shave I'm wondering if I could dial back to maybe 8 or even 7.
Dove Men's Face Wash Williams Mug Shaving Soap Semogue 1305 Boar Brush Gillette NEW Voskhod Teflon Coated (4) CWR Thayers Cucumber WH Pinaud Clubman AS Williams Mug Shaving Soap face lathers so easily with my Semogue 1305 boar brush. Two passes and touch ups with my Gillette New and the Voskhod Teflon Coated blade left me near BBS. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Cucumber WH and Pinaud Clubman after shave leaving me clean, smooth, and refreshed...
Friday: Neutrogena Men Facial Wash #6 Horsehair Super Speed/Rapira day 5 Yeti Snot SS 444 AS Balm Alcolado Glacial Menthol Splash Oscar de la Renta Pour Lui EdT If this set-up doesn't show that I'm a menthol freak, nothing will. lollllllll Another frigidly-wonderful Cracky Wacky Ticky Tacky Face-Freezing Shave which I loved so much. An interesting thing happened - while I was lathering up with the Yeti Snot soap for my first pass, I got a sneezing fit and my eyes started tearing. The same thing happened on Monday while I was using the Glacial soap so this proves that both these soaps are equally cold. The 444 balm and the Penguin felt awesome afterwards! Have a great weekend, folks!
SOTD March 28 -- Blade safari day 53 Prep: hot shower Razor: WW2 Gillette Khaki Tech Blade: Rapira (day 1) Brush: Vie-Long Soap: Proraso white Passes: 2 (WTG, XTG) Post: Nivea Men Cool Kick A great DFS shave this morning.
Wacker Gadsden Acca Kappa Rooney That was my reason for buying this particular model Wacker. I did not get this blade sharpened from the supplier and it was not shave ready from the factory. It has a small flaw on the scale which I view as a character mark unique to my razor but the blade is perfection. It sharpened to a fine edge and I had a great shave. I'll get a better pic for tomorrows shave. Have a good one.
Friday Prep: Hot Shower-Stirling Bath Soap Soap: Tabac Razor: Gillette Slim Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (4) Brush: Plisson Grey Badger Aftershave: Tabac EdC WTG-XTG-ATG (adjusted angle for my beard a bit) I pulled out the good ol’ Tabac today. Great shave on all levels! I finished up with Tabac EdC. Bob
FRIDAY A "beurre karité" morning shave, using products that contain shea butter (two from the Shea Institute, one home made). An early morning two-pass straight razor shave which left my face feeling both smooth & refreshed. Yes, I'm sort of a fanatic for the shea. Have a blessed Friday, everyone!
