I recently got a sampler of Floid's aftershaves from Garry's Sample shop online, and I'd like to post my reviews and opinions on them for others looking into Floid aftershaves. Tried the Floid Blue today and I really liked how mellow and nicely scented it was. It barely stung on the skin at all, if Cat O' 9 tails is a 10 then this is a 3. Has a really nice fragrance and a very slight cooling effect. Not so much as Aqua Velva for example, but just a nice cooling on the skin. I'll comment on longevity at the end of the day to see if I get any whiffs of it throughout the day, or if this one will dissipate shortly.
It's my favourite AS. Scent is really great, but doesn't last very long. It is the one after shave that never fails to make my wife comment on how nice I smell
If I had to pick just one AS it would be Floid Blue. I use it most days. After Shave seems to last on me for awhile. The Floid Blue AS lasts 3 or 4 hours on a good day. That is why I bought the cologne to match, It lasts easily all day! Good Stuff!
I used Floid Amber today and upon application, the scent was reminiscent of Skin Bracer due to its sweet, vanilla smell. Then, after a very slight, refreshing burn, it dried to a baby powder scent. It is a nice scent and hasn't dissipated in the past 20 minutes, but the smell is very sweet, baby powdery. I don't know if I like my face smelling of a baby's bottom, but it isn't completely repulsive.
I used Floid Black today and I can't get enough of this smell. It is manly, smells of a good cologne, and goes on smooth with minimal burn. I definitely will be buying a bottle of this. There isn't a baby powder scent associated with this like the other Floids, just rich manly scent. Just great!
I used Floid Suave today and something about this smell... It reminds me of something medicinal, doctors, sickness... Oh yeah! Cough Syrup! This smelled like I was applying cough syrup to my face. I am a trooper however and put a generous amount on and let it stay, no matter how repulsive. It has dried to a familiar baby powder smell that has been throughout the Floids with the exception of the incredible Floid Black, and it isn't so bad. However the initial cough syrup application is too much for me to even consider buying a bottle.
