There's something about Rod's soaps which makes me use them at least twice a week - this Black Ice has awesome lather and skincare with a darn good cooling effect. It's black licorice scent starts off strong but then it mellows out, so it doesn't linger too long. The Anherb conditioner and the Aqua Velva felt super-cool and soothing. What a great shave today. No pics, sorry! ;) :D

    Prep: Warm shower, Cetaphil Lotion
Razor: EJ DE89 Head w/ Weber Classic Handle
    Blade: Voskhod (3)
    Soap: Williams Mug Shaving Soap
    Brush: Semogue 830
    Post: Witch Hazel, Cetaphil Lotion
    Aftershave: Old Spice

Contrary to the way most feel about it, I love Williams soap. It gave me another excellent shave.

    Have a great day!

Prep: Warm wash with Stirling Scots Pine Sheep
    Lather: Stirling Barbershop
    Brush: Stirling badger
    Razor: Merkur 34HD
    Blade: Lord Super Stainless (3)
Post: Cold water rinse and CC Bay Rum

Very smooth and clean shave this morning. I am almost out of my homemade PSO and not sure if I can tell any difference without using it. But, I am getting the Barbershop dialed in quite nicely and have plenty of slick and thick lather for 3 passes plus neck touch-ups.

    Prep: Hot Shower-Stirling Bath Soap
    Soap: Mystic Water-Sardinian Honey
    Razor: Gillette NEW SC
    Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (2)
    Brush: Whipped Dog Silvertip 22mmx48mm
    Aftershave: Clubman

WTG-XTG-ATG (adjusted angle for my beard a bit)

I was with the Gillette NEW Short Comb and GSB again today. I was PIF’d a partial tub of Mystic Water Sardinian Honey to try. I have been putting off trying it. The honey scent out of the tub is very strong and I kept visualizing spreading honey all over my face. I did want to try Mystic Water soap though, so I pulled the trigger on it this morning. I guess I am another MW victim. The lather started out thick and rich but broke down on my face on each pass. I know I could spend time tweaking it, but I am not so inclined….especially with the overpowering honey scent. Just not my cup of chowder. I did get a very good shave though. I finished up with Clubman.

    Gillette NEW
    Astra Superior Platinum (2)
    CWR
    Thayers Cucumber WH
    Pinaud Clubman AS

The Proraso Green shave cream face lathered well with my Semogue 1305 boar brush. Two passes and touch ups with my Gillette NEW SC and Astra Superior Platinum blade left me with a near BBS face. The Astra is working flawlessly so far. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Cucumber WH and Pinaud Clubman after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

    4/3/2014 Synthetic Brush Week

Prep: Hot shower with L'Oreal Men Expert Facial Wash, home made PSO
Razor: Valet Autostrop, Hamburg Concave Quick Cutter straight razor
Blade: Feather Seikan carbon steel SE blade (2)
    Brush: HJM Black Fibre synthetic
    Soap: L'Occitane Cade soap
After: Home made ASB, Grey Flannel after shave balm
    Cologne: Grey Flannel EDT

I pulled the Valet Autostrop out to try the Feather Seikan carbon steel blade again. I ran it across the strop last night to get it ready. I am still not impressed with the performance of the blade. It still tugs at the whiskers. Well, this blade is not working for me, YMMV. After a 2 pass with touch ups shave I ended up with close to a Darn Fine Shave and a little irritation on and under my chin. The Grey Flannel after shave balm took care of the irritation.

    Have a blessed day!

It was a blade and razor combo that I had not tried before could be some of the issue. Most likely though, I had only had an hour and a half sleep. I may have skipped a step somewhere. Now that I have had more sleep and think about it. My new neighbors have a mentally challenged with an amazing set of pipe. The dog can bark for one hour with no breaks and does so all night some nights. Really makes me want to replace my antifreeze close to their house. But...I won't...my guess is they don't feed the dog.

Many times a dog will undergo anxiety disorders and the owner will not understand or care. I had a co-worker whose vet had to prescribe a small amount of St. John's Wort for a considerable amount of time to allow his dog (a rescued racing Greyhound) to learn to relax in their home environment. Eventually the dog recovered from much of the abuse and anxiety the racing owners had caused. I wish you, and the dog, good fortune and a peaceful night sleep.
