I doctored the scrapped Senator's baseplate with some Aves epoxy putty to mate with a cap's grooves (and it's a Clix cap but that doesn't matter). Holds up fine, shaves great. I have the Clix baseplate too, but that plate is so thick it won't let the stripped threads at the end of its cap lock into any handle. So I use the Senator's because it's much thinner...and open comb is always cool.
At least it was cold I'm not feeling well, so I chose a menthol shave today to help clear my nose and sinuses. I also chose only two passes to avoid further irritation on my neck. I got an adequate shave in all respects, nothing special. I'm looking forward to trying the HTGAM/RR mentholated pre shave soap, which arrived today.

SoS - Thursday 4/3/14 Prep: Shower, tea tree & lime PSO Cream: La Toja Brush: Omega Pro 49 Razor: Merkur 38C Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (1) Post: Nivea Sensitive balm Aftershave: Clubman A 2 pass BBS shave with minimal touch up needed thanks to the new GSB. The La Toja cream is a top value that deserves high praise, and Clubman is a classic finish, as always. A great shave.

The dog may have some issues with the move. I will give it couple months before I knock on their door anyway.
Something new tonight. Prep: hot shower, Myrsol Emulsion. Brush: Turkish #6 Brush. Razor: '62 Gillette Slim set on 6 for the first pass, 3 for the second pass. Blade: Polsiver SI. Cream: Egyptian Ingram. Post: cold water rinse, Barbon AS, Myrsol Emulsion. I don't think the SI is a good blade for my Slim. I got a nick on my chin. But the Myrsol Emulsion is awesome stuff. It is very slick, very moisturizing, and has a good kick of menthol in it. I put some on my face after I rinsed my brush and razor off. I noticed that I missed a couple spots, so I rubbed on more Emulsion and hit those spots. I thought my blade didn't make contact at first, but it took the missed stubble away painlessly. My next test is to shave with only the Emulsion. As aways, Ingram froze my face off and so did the Barbon. Aside from the nick, I'm quite satisfied with my shave.

Morning! Been up since 3 am down here in Arkansas. Drill today! Splash of hot water Gillette travel tech Renamed dorco Caswell and massey sandalwood
5/8 Wusthof TOBS Sandalwood homemade brush Nice shave this morning. I touched up both Wusthofs this week off an old Barber's hone and have been getting some nice shaving edges with it. It's advertised as producing a "fine gummy edge", whatever that means but it provides a nice comfortable shave. Have a good one.
Frey's Day: Prep: Hot compress, Healthy Accents Daily Renewal Cleanser, TSD Jasmine Sambac Preshave balm Soap: Ogallala Bay Rum & Sandalwood Brush: Simpson 56 Best Badger Razor: Merkur 41c 1904 OC Blade: Bic Chrome Platinum (2) Pass: WTG (4) Post: Cold water splash, Dickinson's WH, Captain's Choice Cat o' Nine Tails AS That was frustrating. Apparently I need to review techniques on creating lather with a shaving stick, as my first try produced positively dismal results. Luckily, the shave I got yesterday was very close, and I don't have anyone to whom I must appear presentable today, so a 1-pass shave, somewhere between SAS and DFS, is adequate as a learning experience.
Friday: Neutrogena Men Facial Wash Large Horsehair Barbershop Super Speed/Sharp day 5 Egyptian Palmolive Menthol SC Visal AS Gel Alcolado Glacial Menthol Splash Dolce & Gabbana EdT It took some time for the scent of the Egyptian Palmolive Menthol cream to grow on me, but now I like it. The Italian version still smells nicer but this stuff is also quite pleasant and it has the same great lather with the same powerful cooling sensation and equally good skincare. The Visal gel is so cooling and soothing, and the Penguin is one dynamite face-freezer. BBS and feeling super! Enjoy the weekend, folks!
Friday, April 4, 2014 Prep: Warm shower, Cetaphil Lotion Razor: EJ DE89 Head w/ Weber Classic Handle Blade: Voskhod (4) Cream: TOBS Shaving Shop Brush: Semogue 830 Post: Witch Hazel, Cetaphil Lotion Aftershave: Brut I used the last of my TOBS Shaving Shop cream this morning, but it went out with a bang. I gave me a wonderful, BBS shave. I'm ready for the last day of work this week. Have a great day!
