SOTD MARCH 4 Pre-Hot shower Razor-Lady Gillette Blade-Feather Hi-Stainless Brush-VDH Boar Suds-C.O. Bigelow Post-Cold towels Old Spice AS I normally use a SR first, then clean up with the DE, but I just got a few Feather blades in the mail from a friend, and I wanted to try them out, so I only used the DE today. A very smooth 3 pass shave. Near BBS. I had heard how sharp this blade was, but the descriptions did not do it justice. I made 3 passes using little to no pressure. The blade cut smoothly and left very little irritation behind. Caught myself just a tiny bit on the neck, but I had two nicks from a previous shave, one directly on the chin, and one right at the little crease between my bottom lip and the rest of my chin. The blade cut smoothly over these and did not re-open them. I never even felt it. That's fairly impressive, IMO. And I got one of the smoothest shaves I think I've ever gotten in my life. I'm going to continue to use and evaluate this blade, but first impressions are that the Feather Hi Stainless is a great blade.
Thanks Guys! I decided to just take a look on the bay and discovered a Glory Hole of razors. I wanted to get more of them (from the same seller) but, I had to limit my spending or I'd be shaving under a bridge somewhere; if you know what I mean.
Well I got the bug too and picked up two straights myself. A shave ready Osgar 5/8 full hollow and 5/8" T. Noonan & Sons Domino. Also my Tony Miller fast bridle and practice strops came in and so did my freshly honed Wosty Pipe Razor. Feel lousy today with a head cold but the goodies today made it a whole lot better
SoS - Saturday, April 5, 2014 Hot shower Prep: Homemade tea tree & lime PSO Soap DR Harris Arlington Brush: Omega Pro 49 boar Shaver: '63 Gillette Slim (4) Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (3) Post: Nivea Sensitive balm Aftershave: Speick What lather from the Arlington! Even in the notoriously hard water of Phoenix, just 20 seconds on the puck followed by about 45 in the bowl and the big Omega boar disappeared. I've never experienced anything like it: My excitement with the lather similarly consumed my concentration on the actual shave, leading to two nicks (surely karma from the shaving gods... Touché). Yet another lesson learned the hard way.
Late to post my early Saturday shave - 4/5/14 Prep: face wash with Stirling Scots Pine Sheep Lather: Stirling Barbershop Brush: Omega 13522 boar Razor: Gillette Slim Adjustable Blade: Sharp Platinum Post: cold water rinse and Old Spice aftershave CCS on a Saturday morning before heading out to run a concession stand at a benefit horse show. One of my students gave me a hug (they like seeing this teacher on weekends) and said, "You smell good Mr.!" Great news, sold out of hamburgers, breakfast sandwiches and most of the soda and had a healthy profit for our FFA chapter in about 6 hours of work.

Sunday: Hot shower with Neutrogena Men facial wash Two hot towels Large Horsehair Barbershop Super Speed/Sharp day 7 Iced Subzero SS Thayers Witch Hazel Mennen Skin Bracer AS Although not nearly as frigidly-cold as yesterday, this shave was still plenty cold and delightful. JoAnna's gold medal-winning ISZ soap will always have a special place in my heart because of its great menthol scent and rich easy-to-create lather and its strong and long-lasting cooling sensation. The skincare from this soap is also hard to beat - it leaves your face feeling like a million bucks. I'll need some more witch hazel soon because this bottle is running out and I want to keep it in my aftershave rotation. I also love the Skin Bracer - it's a pity Madame doesn't!
Sunday, April 6, 2014 Prep: Warm shower, Cetaphil Lotion Razor: EJ DE89 Head w/ Weber Classic Handle Blade: Personna Lab Blue (2) Cream: Gada Original Brush: Semogue 830 Post: Witch Hazel, Cetaphil Lotion Aftershave: Floid Amber I finished with a DFS, but it just wasn't the best shave I've ever had. The razor just didn't seem to glide on the second pass like it usually does. I know it wasn't the fault of the Gada, because I've used it many times and have always had great results. Oh well, it just makes me just look forward to tomorrow's shave that much more. Have a great day!
Dove Men's Face Wash TABAC Shaving Soap Frank Shaving Finest Badger Cadet TP-30 (first Shave) Astra Superior Platinum (1) CWR Dickinson's WH Pinaud Clubman AS Second shave with the TABAC and first shave with the Cadet TP-30. The TABAC face lathered very nicely with the Frank Shaving Finest badger brush. I did two passes and touch ups with the Cadet TP-30 and a new Astra Superior Platinum blade. I would say it was about like a Slim wide open. I got a great shave, but I had to go slow and easy: no nicks, cuts, or abrasions. It was a mighty fine shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Dickinson's WH and Pinaud Clubman after shave.
