    Friday

    Prep: Hot Shower-Stirling Bath Soap
    Soap: Stirling Bay Rum
    Razor: Gillette Slim
    Blade: Perma-Sharp (3)
    Brush: Plisson Grey Badger
Aftershave: Krampert’s Finest Bay Rum Acadian Spice

WTG-XTG-ATG (adjusted angle for my beard a bit)

As expected, I got a great shave with the Stirling Bay Rum, Plisson Grey Badger, Slim, and Perma-Sharp. I got a very quick, easy, thick lather. Stirling has nailed the scent in the Bay Rum! I finished up with Krampert’s Bay Rum, a perfect match for the Stirling Bay Rum.

The Cadet seems to be working out fine. It is aggressive, but not as aggressive as the Parker I piffed a while back. I like the weight, but I am thinking about taking off about half of the thread post. It is way too long. I guess better too long than too short. So far, no one has claimed the credit for this nice gift. There was no clue on or in the packaging as to who the sender was. "Thank you, Anonymous."

    Frey's Day:

Prep: Hot shower, Healthy Accents Daily Renewal Face Wash
    Brush: Simpson 56 Best Badger
Soap: Ogallala Bay Rum & Sandalwood Shaving Stick
    Razor: FaTip Piccolo
    Blade: Bolzano (4)
    Passes: WTG (8)
Post: Cold water splash, Bloc Osma Alum, Dickinson's WH, Captain's Choice Cat o' Nine Tails AS
Cologne: Gigember Estragone by Dr. Vranjes

Yesterday's shave was close enough that I could have easily skipped a day, but I wanted to give the shaving stick another try. I opted to skip the preshave balm today, just to set a baseline for lathering, and while it took more time to lather than my other soaps and creams, I was able to get it to produce a stable, slick enough lather with which to shave. One pass was all that was necessary to get me near DFS territory, with no irritation or weepers.

    FRIDAY
    Single-Edge Week

Three passes with the Böker this morning left me with an ultra-smooth face and no irritation.:)
The "Sage-y" scent from both the Pre de Provence soap and post-shave balm I also find refreshing.
It looks to be a great day, so far...

    Have a blessed Friday, everyone!

    Blade: Voskhod (3)
    Soap: Stirling Cool

Good shave today. I had a couple of weeper for some reason. This is a very rare occurrence for me. Oh well, I'll have a "No Shave Saturday" tomorrow and give my face a chance to heal up.

    Have a great day!

    4/11/14 - 3 razors needed today!

Prep: Warm wash with Stirling bath soap
    Lather: Stirling Barbershop
    Brush: Vie-Long 13061
    Razor #1-Merkur 34HD - Dura 7 O'Clock Platinum
Razor #2-Gillette Ball End Tech - Rapira
Razor #3 - Gillette Fat Handle Tech - Shark

I knew that the Dura blade was a little tuggy at the end of my last shave, but thought I would try it again. Not a good choice, tug, pull and almost bite. So rather than change blades, I grabbed the Ball End Tech after pass 1 and finished in smooth fashion. Tried a little Gillette slide on the 2nd pass and was well rewarded for my efforts.

I thought I had a lot of lather left so decided to go ahead and shave my scalp as well. Grabbed the Fat Handle and did 2 easy passes with plenty of lather left over. As near as I guess, I could have done 4 full face passes and 3 full scalp passes with the lather in my Vie-Long brush.

    Friday

    Prep: CeraVe cleanser
    Soap: Tiki Bar unscented
    Brush: Plisson synthetic
    Razor: iKon ShaveCraft
    Blade: Astra SP
    After: Cold rinse, CeraVe

Excellent shave: close, comfortable, smooth. The Tiki soap performed well, as usual. My face feels great!

I have commented before that the unscented Tiki soap smelled like popcorn. Now I realize that the smell is closer to the smell of freshly cooked rice in a rice cooker, which makes more sense, since rice bran oil is one of the ingredients of the Tiki soap.

Sorry guys, haven't been able to keep up. Got the flu, bronchitis, or some type of respiratory wickedness going on. Had it for 4 days now.
Really wanted to shave yesterday morning, but was afraid I'd fall and cut my throat with the straight.
Was able to finally shave about 9 last night. Thought I was getting better. Alas, it was not to be.
So I will just share the tools and the process. Don't have the energy right now to do the picture thing.

    SOTD 10 APRIL
    Prep-Hot towels

    Strop- Musicians Friend
Razor #1- Boker American Line SS St Louis
    Razor #2-Lady Gillette
Blade- Family Dollar Dorco(1)(I assume the parentheses with the number in the middle means how many times the blade was used. For me, this means this is the first use of this blade)
    Brush- VdH Boar
    Soap- Vdh Deluxe

    Post- Cold towels
    Old Spice AS

Ended up with a very nice CCS. If my muddled mind's observations are correct, the Dorco is much smoother out of the gate than the Feather. The feather is definitely sharper. But it is more audible as well, and a bit "rough" cutting wise, for lack of a better word. Not uncomfortable, by any means. No pulling or tugging. But the word "smooth" certainly describes the characteristics of the
Dorco in relation to the Feather.
I believe the Feather gives a bit closer shave, and I got 4 days out of it. I normally only get 3 out of the Dorcos, but we shall see.
I did one pass with the straight. Still need to work on my technique, but I may be relegating the straight to weekend duty, or at least only once or twice a week. The constant stropping is killing my arthritis and nerve damaged hands and fingers. But I'll reserve judgement on that for a bit. I really want to get my technique down with it, first. If I am able.
    Two passes with the DE.
A shave really made me feel good, and helped me to rest last night, thank God.
Have a great shave, all of you. Keep posting the wonderful pics. My sophomoric efforts will return as soon as possible.

    Fruit Friday -
Straight off the trees in my backyard to the photo. Juiced and into the glass for breakfast 10 minutes later.

    Hot shower
    Prep: Lime &Tea Tree PSO
    Brush: Omega 49 boar
    Soap: Stirling Grapefruit
    Razor: Merkur 38C
    Blade: Personna Lab Blue
    Aftershave: Pinaud Lime Sec

A very enjoyable shave. Stirling Grapefruit smells just like the real thing. I really loved the citrus theme. I'll try it again soon with the Castle Forbes Lime that I received this week. The 38C and Personna was the combo that I started with in DE shaving, so it really took me back and reminded me how my technique has improved. I still have a long way to go.

Sorry to hear you are under the weather Mike. I had the same thing about a month ago and it lasted for about three weeks! It will take about 10 days before you start feeling human again and another two weeks to recoup from it. Hang in there it's gonna be a rough ride! Take care of yourself and beat that thing. :kar:
