    Gents,

Thanks for your help and direction. I was able to get my birth year razor after just one lost bid on eBay.

It's a beauty! 1959 Gillette Super Speed Flair Tip in excellent condition. About to fire up a cigar and go clean it up really nicely for maybe it's first shave tomorrow.

Here are some pics of my baby.

And don't let anyone tell you that your Super Speed Flare Tip is a "really old razor." ;)

Congratulations! Nice looking razor. I'm on the prowl for my birth year razor, as well. It'll be a few years older than yours, however. :(

That's Awesome! I just found mine also, a 1958 D4 Fatboy! It's really cool using something that was made when you were born.

    Good on yer!

I don't know what is is about a birth year razor... I've got a birth year (and quarter!) Slim. I am still dialing it in, so haven't decided where it is on my list of faves. However, even if it ends up lowest on my list, I will keep it. ... just because it is birth year. Go figure.

    Congrats!

I am still working on my Birth year set which is the M 2 Gillette family. I did find a travel razor now I am looking to acquire any of the full size razors that came out then. I have a Krona and Shick Injectors Type L and M which I like to think are the correct razors, but it is the Gillette's I really want.

I love the vintage Gillette Super Speeds. Nice old razors that provide excellent shaves. It will give many years of service. Enjoy!!!

I too have a birth year razor; however, it took some poking around to find it.....mine goes back to 1947 :shocked003:. It provides close, comfortable shaves.
