Geez, Louise, now I feel sorry for you! I haven't used a carbon blade before but I remember reading that some will "rinse" the blade (either taking it out or leaving it in the razor) in alcohol (91% isopropyl, not something from the liquor cabinet) and then shaking the razor or patting the blade dry to reduce the incidence of oxidation. Now I'm going to go "unlike" your post since I answered your question.
@rmcintyre84 What John said is what most people do and will work. I do thinks differently before the shave when using a carbon I spray the blade with Off Brand Olive Oil cooking spray. It seems to be all have needed to keep the rust away for a few days. Just don't spray in on a in the bathroom sink. It won't damage it but makes it look and act like it is super teflon coated for couple day.
I don't use carbon blades but they wuld probably rust if left wet or in the razor where there is no air circulation to the blade to dry it. The place where you keep the razor (and blade) would be critical with carbon steel. (That's why I use the stainless.) The "Do not Wipe blade" note is just to keep someone from trying to dry it with a towel or tissue and slicing their fingers off. I blot dry my blade after laying it on a shave towel that is flat on the surface of the sink. This seems to dry most of the wet and after air drying for a while I put it back in the razor and store it in a dry place. I've never had a problem with rust with this method and the fact I use the stainless blade. There, I have given my unqualified opinion but....I still like you Mac.
SoS - Tuesday, April 15, 2014 Shower Prep: Homemade PSO Brush: Omega Pro 49 Soap: Stirling Sharp Dressed Man Razor: '56 Ball-end Tech Blade: Rapira (2) Post: Thayer's witch hazel w/ cucumber & aloe Aftershave: Pinaud Clubman Although it was tax day, the Russian Rapira irritated me far more than the U.S. government today. I guess I'll have to put these blades away and revisit them again in a few months. On only its second shave the blade tugged through the entire shave, and caused a fair amount of irritation, even in the always mild '56 Tech. Lutebro was kind enough to PIF these based to me (along with several others) for a blade safari, so I will just move on to the next in line. Thanks for the wide selection, Lutebro!

SOTD 16 APRIL Prep-Wash face with Irish Spring Hot towels over lather Soap-Van der Hagen Select Brush-Van der Hagen Boar Strop-Musicians Friend Razor-Boker American Line SS St Louis Post-Cold towels St Ives Lavender, Lilac and B5 replenishing lotion Old Spice AS Three passes with the straight. Nice, clean shave. Couple of nicks, but Mr. Styptic to the rescue, and all is well. Still reserving judgement, but the VdH Select isn't impressing me much. It may just require a different water ratio than the Deluxe, so I'll give it a couple more shaves, but the lather while easy to produce is unremarkable. Scent is nonexistent, as is cushion or glide. The Deluxe is far superior, and if things don't improve, I'll be chucking this puck in the trash and popping some Deluxe in this bowl. We shall see. Have a great shave!
