Been wet shaving since January and am having a fine old time hacking the heck out of my face in the name of beauty. After years of shaving in the shower to get out the door I now find that the whole ritual is quite pleasant and not that expensive. Currently scouring the garage sales and flea markets but my daily shaver is a Merkur 180, Mitchells Wool Fat soap and a Jagger Super badger brush, still looking around for pre and after shave products. If anyone knows any stocking stores in Jersey that actually have a selection of shave products please let me know (already went to Edward Rice in New Hope). Thanks and Hello again!
Howdy from Eastern PA. The best thing I have come across is Pasteur's Pharmacy in NYC. Other than that, Bath & Body Works carries CO Bigelow (Proraso SC). Some Rite Aid's carry Real Shaving Co SC. The Mall near me has an Art of Shaving store. Where in NJ are you from? New Hope isn't too far from me. For the most part, I just purchase most things online. There is a much better variety of products available normally at better prices than retail locations.
I'm from the shore (Eatontown) but my wife and I spend a lot of time in Bucks County. Thanks for the suggestion, Bath and Body works will have to get a visit. I'm so new to this I hate to spend the freight on something I may or may not like. My last purchase was a puck or soap for $5.00 and $5.00 shipping, I still don't know which smelled worse.
Welcome to the Den. We know you'll fit right in. So grab yourself a comfy chair, and give our threads a spin! Burma Shave
Welcome, tafkas. I too, am now living in the People's Republic of New Jersey (originally from Philly). If you think it's difficult to buy (true) men's shaving gear in Jersey, just try to legally purchase a handgun. Although I still browse in person whenever the opportunity presents, I almost always have to resort to the Internet to get what I want. There are plenty of good sites (bestgroomingtools.com, westcoastshaving.com...); it's those shipping charges that sometimes stop me in my tracks. But if you factor in the savings on gasoline and time, it (kind of) evens out.
Hi! Welcome to the Den from Pennsauken, NJ. A trip to Adamstown might be worth a trip. I doubt you could scour all the antique shops in a single day.
