A bit stronger for me. I have almost finished this Laphroiag. I have had other offerings including the discontinued 15 and also the Triple Wood. The QC is a more robust expression of the 10, but lacks that heavy phenol, carbolic that I prefer in the 10, which is a bit counterintuitive.
No Sir, but I will look for it. There is this great little shop around the corner that has an amazing selection of everything, but especially whisky. I got my Laph 15 there. I was excited to find it, and they have five left. I did not like the 15 though. I have a dram here and there to justify its existence, but the 15 is not for me.
At 17:15 I am now about to pour my bourbon of the evening. A very humble Evan Williams w/ a splash of water. It was on sale
Ah, the close of another day just living the dream... This is another bottle that I was excited to try, once I got past the "no saki for me" instinct. Indeed, this is whisky. A bit floral for me though. I am happy to share a dram or two if anyone is interested.
Inspired by Scotch I beleive. A quest for a homegrown version of a favorite forgein libation perhaps.
Rewarded myself with a Strawberry Mikes Hard (the wife hates them so they are all mine) after spending over an hour picking up about 40lbs of dog doo in the backyard. I still have about 60% of the yard left to do. Now having a glass of Malbec with my lasagna dinner.
I'm a big fan of Laphroaig (if I can't spell it anymore, I'm no longer fit to drink it), and find the OCS to be more complex and woody than the 10, without as much of the 'sap' note that I get from the 15 (which I do like); the 10 can seem a little thin after I've had the OCS.
My poor mans mixed drinks. Juice of one lime, some Crystal Light lemonade mix, a shot of rum and a glass full of lemon lime sparkling water. Other drink, a little Crystal Light pomegranate mix, a shot of rum and a glass topped off with lemon lime sparkling water. Cheap but effective
Well I have a full 24oz glass of Iced Coffee and a 6oz. glass of Jameson's Irish Whiskey over ice. I don't know which one to drink first.
