  3. Dale, in your opinion, how does the shave you get from the R41 (2013) differ from the Barbasol FH you use in your rotation?
I found them to be quite similar in both feel and quality of shave (both slightly less aggressive and less 'raw' feeling than the 2011 R41), but I really liked the overall weight and feel of the Barbasol FH.
Just curious as I see both of them pop up in your SOTD regularly.

I grated 2 Palmolive sticks into a container. A very peaceful shave this morning.

  6. Hey Kevin. IMO in terms of aggressiveness, the Barbasol falls between the 2011 and the 2013 R41. I think the shave is a little smoother from the Barbasol than the 2013 r41, but they have a similar face feel and are both great shavers. I wish Barbasol was a 3 piece. I like shorter handles and use the R41 on a Weber Bulldog. Overall, I really like them both Nice pics.

  7. Thanks! Yes, I completely understand the 'shortcomings' of the two-piece design when it comes to using alternate handles. I agree with your observations about placing the Barbasol between the two Mühles when it comes to smoothness. All outstanding razors with slightly different feels.

  9. Saturday

    Prep: CeraVe facial cleanser
    Soap: Mike's unscented
    Brush: Mühle VIVO black fiber
    Razor: ShaveCraft
    Blade: Astra SP
    After: cold rinse, CeraVe lotion

Quick two pass shave, but very comfortable. The Mike's soap is really excellent once you get the right balance of water.

Beautiful spring day, sunny and 50F, but clouds and rain coming late this afternoon. Got to go for a quick walk on the forest trail near home before the rain comes in!

    Blade: Feather (day 3)
    Brush: Wilkinson Sword
    Cream: Musgo Real Classic

A couple nicks from the straight today, but nothing too serious.

I don't use the Musgo Real much anymore, but it is a great cream, I'll have to get some more soon as I'm almost out.
  11. Are you trying to convince us non-Washingtonians that you actually get rain up there in Bellevue?

    Soap: RazoRock Green Tea

The one product that all my best shaves have in common is the RazoRock soap. Great stuff. Get extremely comfortable shaves with it.
Side Note: I wanted to have better quality picture, so I invested in this little light box. It's called Foldio portable studio. It's perfect for my SotD pics.

  18. SOTD 4/26/14
Pre - Shower and Neutrogena razor defense face scrub
    Razor - R89 Bulldog
Blade - Gillette Silver Blue (1)
Cream - RR KotC Lavender Hard Soap
Brush - Omega 71276 Finest banded badger
Post - Shea Moisture Tea Tree AS.

It's amazing how much I love the RR Hard soaps. It can make all the difference in the world (compared to the Taconic sample I used yesterday). All I need now is a RR Slant or a R41 head.
  19. Tomorrow's shave (4/27/2014) shown today ...

  20. sod140427.png

    Dove Men's Face Wash
    Cremo Shave Cream
    brushless
    Gillette Aristocrat '47
    Astra Superior Platinum
    CWR
    Dickinson's WH
    Aqua Velva Ice Blue

This was my second shave with Cremo Shave Cream and so far, I am unimpressed. It was an OK shave, but not exceptional. The Gillette Aristocrat with the Astra blade were center stage in this two pass shave. I just did not get as close a shave as I thought I should without risking some irritation. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Dickinson's WH and Aqua Velva Ice Blue after shave.
