    Blade: Rapira (1)
    Brush: Vie-Long White Horse Hair

I was in rush and it was a nice, 10 minutes quick shave. Vie-long makes fast and generous lather.

Sunday, April 26 - Birthday Week, Day 6

    Prep:
Hot shower, Axe Chilled Face Wash, homemade PSO, lather, hot towel
Gel: Neutrogena Razor Defense Shave Gel (yes, in a can)
    Razor: '66 Slim (4)
    Blade: Polsilver (2)
    Post: Cold water, Thayers
AS: Neutrogena Triple Protect Face Lotion
Poo-Goody: Pinaud Clubman (about 30 min. after shaving)
    3 passes - W, X, A, touch ups

This was a test shave. I've been assuming that my severe neck irritation lately has been due to (1) my blade and razor combos, and (2) my shaving technique. But then I thought, "Maybe it's my lathering technique." So this morning I use the NRDSG, which gave me years of nice, comfortable shaves. I didn't get a closer shave than usual - acceptable, at best - but I have almost zero irritation. So, I assume that the irritation may be due to poor lather, but I still need to work on my technique to improve the quality of the shave itself.

This was the first time I've tried Pinaud. Wow! That's some powerful smelling stuff! It smells like the powder my barber uses on my neck after my haircut. I waited 30 min. because I wanted to see how my neck reacted without adding any new variables other than the shave gel.

    Sunday:

    Prep:
Hot shower, TSD Jasmine Sambac Preshave balm
    Brush: Simpson 56 Best Badger
Soap: RazoRock Cumba Cheech Jasmine & Orange Blossom
    Razor: Merkur 41c 1904 OC
    Blade: Bic Chrome Platinum (1)
    Passes: WTG, XTG, ATG (1, 2, 3)
Post: Cold water splash, Bloc Osma Alum, Dickinson's WH, RazoRock Cumba Cheech ASB
    Cologne: Xeryus by Givenchy

One pass on Friday, and no shave on Saturday, meant I had plenty of scruff to tackle with a new Bic blade. The RazoRock lathered beautifully, as usual, and the shave was so smooth, close, and comfortable that I found myself almost debating a fourth pass for the sheer pleasure of it. My face feels great, and I smell almost as good.

If this shave didn't take me almost an hour to finish then it didn't take me two seconds. I did my prep, lathered up, and really chilled out and took my time to make sure I enjoyed every second of it. The Ice & a Slice soap is from the UK and it has a beautiful citrusy-based scent with great lather and a menthol effect which can compete with Iced Subzero. It also has terrific skincare which is so important both during and after a shave. The witch hazel and the Barbon aftershave felt wonderful and I can still feel the freeze! ;) :D

    SUNDAY

A fine DE shave this morning with my new Utopia-handled R41. I haven't used the Feathers in a while (mostly Astra SPs as I have been trying to make a dent in my huge stockpile of them) and it was apparent they have a slightly different 'feel' to them. With the Mühle, you really feel the 'naked' edge of the blade. Not unpleasant, but it does keep you focused, resulting in a VERY close two-pass shave.

    Have a blessed Sunday, everyone!

    My dear Friends,

i had a very nice shave today.

    Prep: hot towel
    Soap: Calani Tularch Ard
    Brush: Semogue "Barbear Classico Texugo"
    Shavette: KAI Captain Excelia
    Aftershave: LEA Aftershave Balm
    [IMG]
Nice!!! Very nice!!! It could be a bit more thoroughly, but that will come the more i use a shavette / straight razor. I like using a shavette. The KAI Captain is heavy and rock solid.

    So,that´s it for now.

Take care and have a great time.

    Greetings
    Thorsten

    Smooth Sunday Shave
The combination of my Old Type and a Personna Lab Blue worked very well again today. I think my first 100 blade purchase just might be of these blades. My face was still pretty smooth from yesterday's shave, so I only gave it two passes. I skipped the XTG, and, although I didn't get cut or burned, it wasn't as comfortable as yesterday. I'll stick to three passes from now on, or just skip the ATG instead.

    Prep: RR/HTGAM lime menthol
    Soap: B&M Ferox
    Brush: HIS synthetic
    Razor: Gillette Old Type
    Blade: Personna Lab Blue (2)
    AS: Kiehl's Facial Fuel

    Razor: Feather SS
    Blade: Feather Pro
    Brush: Chinese badger/boar mix
    Soap: TSD Lemons and Figs
Post: Alum and Simpson's A/S Balm

Today was odd, I used stuff that I do not usually care for (with the exception of the razor) and managed a really great shave.

--The brush: This is a nice reknot of a generic plastic handle and I like it, but I much prefer my reknotted VDH handle with the Chinese finest badger. I guess I was feeling nastalgic when I grabbed this one today, but it worked out well.
--The soap: I have to admit that TSD soaps never really did much for me, but I really like the scent of this one, so I gave it another go today (I picked it up out of the traveling box that went around a while back). It lathered up surprisingly well, nice and creamy. I may have to reconsider TSD soaps...
--The Blade: I don't care for Feather Pro blades (I prefer Super Pros and Pro Guards), but this one (on shave number 4) seemed to work really well. Nice and smooth with no issues.
--The Razor: I love this razor, I bought it off of a member of another forum and got it for way less than retail price.
--The Post Shave Stuff: Alum is alum, it stings a bit and keeps my face from having issues when it gets hot. The Simpson's A/S Balm works really well, but it stinks like stale beer when you first apply it. It's also pretty pricey. I only use it when I want to be smoother than usual or on a whim.
--The Conclusion: It was one of those shaves where everything just seems to come together. Two passes to perfection.
