That is the same exact brush you gave me - Koh-I-Noor Pro. I like to call it 3B (BigBoarBrush) and it is top notch quality. Forgot bowl lathering since moment I first broke it in. It can hold enough soap and water for 4 passes with pre and after-lathering. The only "drawback", if it can be named like that, is that it chews soaps pretty fast.
why's that? There is no alcohol in them. Just curious. BTW I just placed an order with rod. Got the Menthol addiction in high gear. -Oatmeal shea butter bath soap for wifey -MITA Bath soap -Mentha Scrub Bath soap -MITA AS -Glacial Spearmint Also the new hand cream/paste Excited? Yes I am. Wish I new rod could kick up the menthol before I orderd. Maybe I will try to catch him before it ships. Good night all and the Squirrel thanks you for the Birthday wishes. Man, I love this forum.
Every time I see your avatar, I think of my oldest grandson when he was that age. The picture looks just like him. Grandkids are great...

Saturday was a very busy day and I didn't have time to log my shave. So, here it is along with today's shave. Saturday, May 17, 2014 Prep: Warm shower, Cetaphil Lotion Razor: EJ DE89 Head w/ Weber Classic Handle Blade: Personna Lab Blue (3) Lather: Williams Mug Shaving Soap Brush: Semogue 830 Post: Witch Hazel, Cetaphil Lotion Aftershave: Pinaud Lime Musk Sunday, May 17, 2014 Prep: Warm shower, Cetaphil Lotion Razor: EJ DE89 Head w/ Weber Classic Handle Blade: Personna Lab Blue (4) Lather: Cella Brush: Oscar11 w/ Omega 20248 Knot Post: Witch Hazel, Cetaphil Lotion Aftershave: None Saturday's shave was incredibly close and smooth. I don't know that I've ever had a better shave. It was that good. Today's shave (Sunday) was nice, but I only made two passes. Not as close as yesterday's shave, but still very nice. Have a great day!
Sunday: Hot shower followed by two hot towels Neutrogena Men Facial Wash #6 Horsehair Super Speed/Sharp day 7 Gada Cool Mint SC 444 AS Balm Floid Classic AS Wild Country Cologne Another outstanding and very enjoyable shave today - my #6 horsehair seems to be the best for lathering my creams whereas my bigger horsehair is an expert with soaps. The Gada Cool Mint which is so cheap has such a nice minty/lemony scent with tons of rich lather, and its menthol effect hits you hard. When the freezing wears off after you rinse and dry your face, the soothing effect takes over from the camomile which it also contains so your skin feels great all day. The 444/Floid Classic combination adds plenty of extra icicles to your face.
Day 7-Sunday-Stirling “7’s” Week 7 Days: 7 Stirling Soaps, 7 Brushes, 7 Razors, 7 Blades, 7 Aftershaves Prep: Hot Shower-Stirling Scots Pine Bath Soap Soap: Stirling Barbershop Razor: Maggard MR1 Blade: Gillette Platinum (1) Brush: Whipped Dog Silvertip 22mmx48mm Aftershave: Canoe WTG-XTG-ATG (adjusted angle for my beard a bit) My Seventh “7’s” Shave: 7 Days, 7 Razors, 7 Blades, 7 Stirling Soaps, 7 Brushes. I am finishing up the week with Stirling Barbershop. This is a great scent. As usual, I got an easy slick lather. Combined, with the Maggard razor and Gillette Platinum blade, I got a great shave today: smooth, close, and nick free. I finished up with Canoe, a perfect match for the Barbershop soap (FYI-so is Clubman)! Bob
SUNDAY 4:00 am Shave Early start to a busy day today; Used the ol' Reliable Reppenhagen for a nice 3-pass shave. Just to be different, I tried an 'extra' step in the prep process (post-shower, face-lather then applied a hot towel to face for 2-3 minutes; rinse, apply PSO, and then lather as usual). Result? Well, it was a very smooth shave, but whether it was due to the excellent MdC soap, the dependable razor, my 'flawless' technique (ha!), or the additional prep step is difficult to say. But the end results—a great shave—made any extra effort worth it. Have a blessed Sunday, everyone!
Sunday: hot shower w/Musgo Real Lime Basil bar soap Maggard Lime PSO Frog straight 2 passes Schick J2 1+ passes Schick (2) VDH Deluxe boar Muhle Sea Buckthorn soap in a warm bowl Thayers unscented w/aloe Pinaud Clubman Citrus Musk edc First leisurely shave in a week. First time using the Muhle soap. To my nose the scent is nearly non-existent but it made an excellent lather.
Cold MWF Shave I decided to try cold water shaving again, this time with MWF. The result - cool comfortable BBS. The soap had no trouble with cold water, I was able to whip up some great lather with my Plisson Synthetic - it was a little more work than when I use my HIS, but it felt great on my face. I'm going to call it - my iKon ShaveCraft 101 is my favorite razor, providing the easiest and best shaves I've had so far. The Fat really leaves a nice feeling after the shave. I didn't need to use AS, but I splashed on some Facial Fuel anyway, out of habit. Overall a superb shave, one that bears repeating soon. Have a great Sunday!
Dove Men's Face Wash Proraso Green Shave Cream Semogue 1305 Boar Brush Gillette Super Speed '47 Astra Superior Platinum CWR Thayers Cucumber WH Aqua Velva Ice Blue It was an excellent shave. I face lathered the Praraso Green with my Semogue 1305 boar brush. Two passes and touch ups with my Gillette SS and an Astra SP blade left me with a close comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Cucumber WH and Aqua Velva Ice Blue after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

5/8 Grelot Lotus Menta Terrosa homemade boar First time out with this blade, wow, what a shaver. The scales seemed like a good idea yesterday but I'm not so sure today. I'll redo them in the future. The blade came without scales so this stuff was all I had available and I don't think I like the design. Have a good one.
