Many times on here you will me post Custom Restores, with interesting scales choices and sometimes actual steel modification.. Although I do love having fun that way, I still enjoy doing the Vintage Style restores
This is where the the razor is broken down, and brought back to as close to the day it left the factory as I can manage to accomplish..
I broke the razor down and sanded out the scales with 220 Grit, leaving them at that stage I soaked them in Neatsfoot oil overnight, this allowed the horn to absorb the oil and recondition the dry horn.. I then sanded at 320 and left them overnight again.. Finally I sanded out using all the way through 8k in 3m cloth then buffed with Caswell's Blue Rouge..

Pins were replaced with Nickel Silver, and Triple stacked washers, new solid brass bearing washers inside..

The steel was gently buffed spine to edge, as to not lose the original grind lines, or the blade etch to as close to the original Satin finish as I could replicate..

Original Lead wedge polished and re-used

Love the classy, understated look of the satin blade. Altogether, a real beauty!
I love your vintage restores such as this as I can begin to really appreciate how these fine razors appeared 'back in the day.' :happy088:

Very nice, congrats. I always wanted to get a sheffield razor but not achieved yet. I think a mirror finish would be very fine.

Wow the blade looks great and I love your attention to detail. The star of this show is the scales and triple stacks in my mind. The blade was in good shape. You took t to an amazing level don't get me wrong, but your work on those scales and the pinning is just spectacular. Very impressive.
