Looks like you have a great score there. Congratulations. You should at least get 4 or 5 shaves out of your Derby Blades.
It is so funny to read all the hate about Derbys (I am pretty newb with this stuff) as I shaved with a Derby blade for the first time (in my Merkur) and I liked it better than Feather. Granted I am shaving with a different razor each day from my sample pack to start with, then the 30 day trials start.
I was just being funny. I get good milage out of them myself. But you should get at least one shave out of each blade. I am sure you will get many more.
True that. I was given a pack of Voskhod blades, and I had one in there that only yielded one shave. The rest were very good. My goal is to get at least 5 shaves per blade. Last September, I had a Shark Super Chrome that actually lasted 19 shaves and could have gone further, but I got bored. Blades are pretty cheap. Not worth pushing it.
Nice Haul...it looks like you ended up with the Baxter that you wanted. Let us know how you enjoy it. Im looking for a good pre-shave oil right now, so please let me know how that dreadnought works. Is this your early birthday present??
Initial impressions are very positive of the Baxter. That being said, I have yet to actually shave with it. And this was a birthday present to myself, what could be better?! I have read good stuff on the preshave oil, I will report back.
I am literally enjoying everything I purchased so far. 3 shaves in, I LOVE the pre shave oil. It gives a nice sheen on the face, very slick and softens the hairs nicely. I was using AOS pre shave oil before and I will probably end up pouring that down the drain. It is pure garbage by comparison. The TOBS has a great smell, lathers well and gives a very nice shave, with a wonderful after feel and smell. Loving the Baxter/Muhle R89 as well. Very nice weight and the shorter handle than my Merkur allows for better maneuverability. The only thing I am still experimenting on are blades. So far I have done 1 day each with blades in my sample pack, the last blade to try today are Personna reds. After I have tried them all, begins the 30 days of agony lol.
