SOTD 6/10 Pre: Maggard Razors PSO - Cherry Sandalwood Vanilla Brush: Omega 48 Pro Boar Soap: AOS Unscented Sensitive Razor: Gillette Super Speed Blade: Gillette Wilkinson Sword Splash: Shea Moisture Shave Tea Tree Herbal AS Elixir Post: Nivea Sensitive AS After: Aqua Velva Ice Blue AS & Pacific Shaving Moisturizer The Wilkinson Sword is another super sharp blade! But it felt really rough on my face. I'll try it one more time and if it still feels that way it's dropping out of rotation. The AOS lathered really well. Nice cushion. I'm finding I really like the feel of the Omega, even though its huge. I think it may actually be designed for face lathering.
SOTD June 10 Prep: hot water Razor: WW2 Gillette Tech Blade: Gillette Blue Brush: Vie-Long Soap: Margaritas in the Arctic Passes: 2 (WTG, XTG) Post: Arko Ice Mint Much better shave this morning. I didn't sleep in and was able to take my time and slowly enjoy my shave. One of my flea market razors came with a Good Blue blade. I figured my WW2 Gillette Tech was a good razor to pair it with. I don't think u was too far off. There was some tugging with the initial WTG pass, but that might have been from yesterday's "speed shave". A second XTG pass and some touch ups left me with a menthol numbed DFS. He Arko Ice Mint is doing everything it can to keep that face numbing going...
TUESDAY Back to Work & DE Day An early morning, quick 2-pass shave that left my face super smooth and now I'm ready (almost!) to face any crisis at the office! Have a blessed day, everyone! 'Big Blade & a little Brush' Pre: Homemade PSO Razor: Mühle R41 Grande (2011) Blade: Personna Blue Brush: Simpson Wee Scot Lather: Martin de Candre, scented Shave: 2 passes (WTG/XTG), plus light touch-up Post: Alum block, Black River bay rum AS
I am very pleased with its performance. I load it up really good and go to the face. I get a rich thick lather with the VDH Luxury SS. This is a very good soap for me, and I am liking my newly re-knoted brush. The TGN knot is working out very well. As you may remember, the Made Rite was my wife's grandpa's brush. I re-knotted it back on May 27. This was my seventh shave with it.
°Gem Flying Wing/Guiding Eye/bullet tip with a new Gem coated stainless °VDH 2 pass BBS, mostly all ATG. A few very light XTG weepers on the chin but I was being careless. A/S: Dickinson's menthol spiked WH followed by lime-spiked Lucky Tiger Face Tonic. Hadn't used a bullet tip in...well, I can't remember exactly how long. Years. I don't recall it having this smooth and relatively mild of a shave but I'm sure I didn't have technique down last I tried it. It's very comparable to the G-bar, barely heavier. I'm impressed with this good razor; much more face-friendly to me than the earliest Gems and the OCMMs.
Tuesday 6/10 Prep: Gaia face wash Pre-shave: Shave Secret Blade: Voskhod soap: Treufitt & Hill Cedar and Sandalwood Witch Hazel: Generic Sandalwood scented AS: Sampsons all natural I went back to the Voskhod blades today without waiting to see if the Derby blade will last 4 shaves. The Derby just doesn't seem either sharp enough or smooth enough for my tastes. The T&F cedar-sandalwood is a pretty nice soap, and produces a good lather, but the scent seems to be lacking "oomph". Maybe I just like more strongly scented soaps.
7/8 Friodur Menta Terrosa homemade badger Screwed up my knee yesterday so I'll be laid up for a while but a least I can still enjoy my shaves. Nice shave this morning. Have a good one.
6/10/14 Prep: Hot shower and face wash with Stirling Barbershop bath bar Lather: Tiki Set Sail Brush: Vie-Long Lord Randal mixed horse and badger hair Razor: Weber PH Blade: 7 a.m Plus Hi Platinum Post: Cold water rinse and Captain's Choice Lime After yesterday's 2 pass blood letting shave, I was a little worried, but decided to soldier on and see what would happen. I realized that I had used up the pack of feathers and the pack of Wilkinson Sword (English) that were in the medicine cabinet, so a quick examination of the annex cabinet showed me this unopened blade sampler from TSD. Thought I would go ahead and give it a start. It appears there are 3 each of 6 different blades, so that should take me a while to work through. Today's shave was an uneventful 3 pass shave, with no tugging, nicks, weepers or untoward words directed at the mirror. WTG, ATG and WTG finished me off. The Weber was just fine, delivering a smooth and comfortable shave.
