Hey ladies and gents I was wondering if menthol can irritate the skin? Im still learning to wetshave properly and I have not come to that stage where I can shave all trouble spots correctly without irritation. When I notice some irritation or feel like I didn't get the best shave, should I lay of mentholating my aftershave? Thank you in advance
I personally haven't had any issues with menthol, I add a table spoon to many different after shaves, and use M-Bomb. I would think it's very possible to have a reaction. Keep monitoring when you use a product with menthol.
Im having a little trouble on the area between my lower lip and chin( I almost never get it right) and I don't know if it got more red because of the menthol or if it was a delayed reaktion =P
That's interesting, the past week I had the same problem, only after not shaving for a day it went away. In my case, I try to hard to get it really clean shaven. Today's shave I used much less pressure and did some buffing, no irritation or redness at all.
I try using a really really light touch, but when I do I don't clean out all the stubble. Practice practice practice =) its frustrating because when I get irritated, I get razor bumps and when I get razor bumps I can't shave the next day
hahaha I made some menthol additive, I tried 3 drops instead of 2 in my serving of aftershave.. it got real cold real fast
Hmm.. Maybe it was a delayed reaction from the shave itself. Im gonna be more observant next time. AND more careful during the shave
If you way over mentholated on your own, you could've added enough to cause you an irritation where it wouldn't have bothered you before. Lay off it, and if there's no irritation slowly bring it back at lower levels then work your way up.
Osage Rub = good. I understand it is just a starting place for the Menthol Addicted. Saw a video of a guy crushing it up and dissolving it in Everclear. I think I would use denatured instead.
I'm allergic to eucalyptus. For a long time, the only menthol experience I had came from Proraso Green. I thought the menthol was irritating me, but it was the eucalyptus. Lucky me. I for the record love menthol and use it for 90% of my shaves.
The Osage has been coming out more and more this week. I fear I'd better stock up on a case for summer as I may want to bathe in it later.
The only thing about the Osage Rub (OK, I'm calling it by its rightful name!) that I'm not too crazy about is the scent, but I can still live with it easily.
No idea! I didn't like it at first. But now I do Unfortunately Osage rub is not available in Sweden. But I can live with that now that I have made some really menthol additive =)
This just happend yesterday. But really I'm not sure how to test the theory because what if I just get a better shave next time and that's why I don't get redness, and then if I try with menthol maybe that time I don't do as good as a job .. But I have not tried it yet, this just happend yesterday =)
