  1. For some reason, the FaTip was the one razor in my collection that always seemed to leave those surprise scarlet streamers on both my chin and throat. At first I thought it was careless technique, then I blamed the blade, then the soap...

Finally I finally arrived at the only logical explanation…

    FaTip gremlins!

  2. I have found that - most of the time - I can avoid the flow of red with the FaTip, when the rest of my shave routine is set up correctly. This morning's margarine-like lather on the first pass was not 'set up correctly,' unfortunately.

    Prep: Gaia face scrub
    Oil: Shave Secret
Brush: 20mm Whipped dog set deep
Razor: slim adjustable set to 3
    Blade: Gillette Silver Blue
    soap:

    Provence Sante

    Post: Alum sprayed on
Witch Hazel: Generic scented with rose oil
    AS: Sampsons all natural

This was my first use of a Gillette Silver Blue blade. It was definitely sharper than the Derby, almost as sharp as a feather (to my face). It was also almost as smooth as a Voskhod. If I can get 4 shaves out of it I will be one happy camper.

I pulled out the Provence Sante after about a week. This is quickly becoming my favorite soap. The feeling of smoothness has not yet been replicated by anything else I have tried. @John Beeman - keep playing with Sante - it is worth the effort and gets easier as you use the soap.

Lather: Tiki Set Sail (scuttle lather)
    Brush: Vie-Long 13061M horsehair
    Razor: Gillette New open comb
    Blade: 7 a.m. Plus
Post: Cold rinse and Captain's Choice Lime

Was not expecting a great shave this morning, but I got one with 3 passes - WTG, XTG and ATG. The Gillette New is the only razor I have used which consistently gets my neck smooth and the more I use it, without irritation. I think I am in love with this razor.
