Hi folks, I recieved a sample pack of the Trumpers creams. I usually face lather loading the cream onto the brush, but with a pot this size bowl lather was the best option. It whipped up in the bowl with no problems what so ever. And went on a treat providing a thick cushioning lather with nice glide. All in all a very pleasant shave with the SA and a Gillette Black. Cheers, thanks for reading.
Yes I'm dying for the rose! A lot of guys think rose to be feminine, not the case. They usually infuse it with some clove, cinnamon, or spice and it turns out to be a greAt warm weather morning shave!
After doing some research, I came to the conclusion that up until about about 1900 virtually ALL shaving soaps were floral scents - Rose, Lavender, Lilac, etc. BTW, I love the floral scents. My favorites are (in approximate order): TOBS Lavender Geo. F. Trumper Lilac TOBS rose Rose of Bulgaria Treufitt & Hill Rose
Try mixing a rose and a lavender. It is amazing. I tend to go with a 2 lavender/1 rose ratio or else the rose overwhelms the lavender.
That looks like some great lather. I've been debating ordering some trumper or taylor of old bond street. Not sure what one I want to get, just need a change from c. o. bigelow and willaims. Plus I really dislike the menthol in it. any recommendations? where do you get the trumpers sample from?
Trumpers samples can come right from them, or there's other places that have a bunch of others as well such as our very own TSD Store: http://www.theshavedenshop.com/index.php?_a=product&product_id=133
GFT Lime is fantastic. I have the Rose as well and while the scent is beautiful I find them heavy on the dye to the point where I don't use badgers I like with them. Seems only GFT uses that much dye as well compared to the other 2 T's.
I have heard rumors that TOBS Lavender will stain a badger brush. It never has mine, but it is a possibility.
