It's going to be beautiful today. Go out and get it!
6/14/1/4 Prep: Warm wash and homemade PSO Lather: Tiki Set Sail Brush: Vie-Long 13061M horsehair Razor: Gillette Fat Handle Tech Blade: 7 a.m. Plus Hi Platinum (5) Post: Cold water rinse and Captain's Choice Lime I started using the Tiki Set Sail on May 22 and have used it every day except for 3 days when traveling. I think this would be about 30 lathes so far, counting head shaves as separate lathers. I just broke through the bottom of the puck but I expect I have at least a week's worth of shaves yet to go with this soap. It delivers a creamy, yogurt like experience every time. Super easy to load the brush and build lather. The shave itself was uneventful. 3 passes and I am good for another day. No issues. The Tech offers absolutely no surprises and actually seems to give a better shave every time I use it. The 7 a.m. blade has been a pleasant surprise to use as this blade is on it's 5th shave and felt as smooth and fresh as day 1. It has worked equally as good in my Weber PH, my Gillette New LC and my Ball End Tech. Tomorrow I will give it a try in my Slim and the last day will be in a Merkur 34HD.
°Gillette Slim °1960s Personna stainless °VDH Deluxe BBS Dickinson's WH with menthol afterwards Tried cold water lather. Let the cold lather sit on the beard for a minute or so before shaving, the way some ancient directions read. Can't say I noticed any difference in the end result but it was louder and overall more refreshing than my usual hot water shave. Maybe I'll start doing it this way in the morning.
On a roll This was another excellent shave in a great week of shaves. I couldn't decide what to use today. Usually, I choose the night before and take the photo to save time before work. Since it's Saturday, I have more time and I felt Synergy Bay Rum calling me. I used HTGAM's excellent Bay Rum shampoo in the shower and put some hot water on the puck while I prepped, waking up the scent. This is the best classic bay rum scent I've tried. I wet the tips of my Plisson synthetic and easily whipped up plenty of yogurt lather. My iKon SC101 smoothly rid me of stubble, leaving a smooth and comfortable face. I finished up with Krampert's Finest Bay Rum. Today was single edge Saturday for me. Hot shower Arko soap applied with my Omega boar. Gem Open comb MicroMatic GEM blue Alum Ogallala bay, lime, peppercorn.
SATURDAY My usual one or two day 'break' from straight razors; I went the milder route on the R41s (2013 version) and was rewarded with a close, really comfortable shave. Two passes & I'm good to go! I'm heading back to the office this morning as VBS begins on Monday, so there's plenty still to do beforehand. Have a blessed weekend, everyone!
Hmmmm…a possible candidate for other larger DEs! (The Shake sharp in the middle is an avg-size razor) or go REALLY big!
I hate to admit it Adonis but, I love the scent of Arko as well. When I first used it I thought, "Urinal Puck" but, after a few uses, I looked forward to that unique scent. But then, I like Lilac Vegetal too so, go figure!

The Pre de Provence mixed well with the GAIA. The GAIA gives it just a touch of mint. The Gillette Silver Blue has come through 3 shaves so far with good results. Hopefully, it will make it through one more shave.

Razor: Loeffler Our Drummer 5/8 Full Hollow Brush: Vie-Long butterscotch Beehive 24mm Horsehair Bowl: Suribachi 5” bowl Pre Shave Soap: MRGLO Lime Pre Shave Oil: Homemade Iced Mojito Shave Soap: Tiki Citrus Mint Blast LE Post: Monster Alum Block Aftershave: Pereja Limon Cicegi Kolonyasi Fantastic shave this morning. Had planned to use Glacial Obsidian this morning but my order of two Limited Edition Tallow shave soaps arrived earlier than expected so had to give the Citrus Mint Blast a run this morning. One thing I like about all of the soaps I have from Amanda is how strong the scents are before you even start lathering them up. I opened the tin and still in wrap was the soap puck but the sweet citrusy aroma filled the bathroom. It was a light but sweet orange and in the background I picked up sweet light lemon. Not the typical tart lemon I was expecting and both of them actually reminded me of the small orange and lemon trees my grandfather had back in Santa Clara CA. He grew a Valencia Orange tree, two Meyer Lemon trees and one Chandler Grapefruit tree. Could not pick up any menthol as noted but did pick up the peppermint but not as strong as I expected which in this case was a good thing as it would have taken away the wonderful citrus aroma. Just to make sure I was in the ballpark of the citrus I went out to Tiki website http://tikibarsoap.com/product/pre-release-summer-scents-tallow-shaving-puck/ and in fact she does list Meyer Lemon and Valencia Orange as well as Peppermint and menthol crystals. Lathering up this soap like all her other soaps was a breeze and the slickness and cushion provided a BBS two pass shave. For me, no aftershave is required with her soaps it is that good but to compliment this wonderful citrusy soap I topped it off with a lemon aftershave.
