Talk about an early Father's Day Present!! I came home from work today, and saw a nice envelop sitting in my mailbox from across the pond. I couldn't wait to rip the package open to behold the SAXON!! This beautiful razor was skillfully crafted by Mervyn Cadma. All I can say is this guy is a top notch professional and a pleasure doing business with. He takes great pride in his work, and his customer satisfaction. I couldn't be happier to add this razor to my collection. Be sure to look him up.... Contact Mervyn at mervyn@shaving-sets.co.uk Thanks again Merv
Well I would have never expected a partially knurled handle to look so good. But this has just proven me wrong!
I will be shaving with it tonight and will be sure to fill you in. I have mainly been using a SC101 and Weber, so i will make my comparisons based off of those two razors.
The Saxon is a Whisker Assassin! I loaded it up with a fresh Feather, and proceeded with its first shave last night. I immediately noticed the larger blade gap compared to my SC101 and Weber PH. The audible feedback was apparent with the first stroke. This is definitely a more aggressive razor than what I've been shaving with in the past few months. It reminded me of my Merkur Futur that I used to own (set on 5). I was extremely cautious and paid close attention to both angle and pressure. I think that if I would have applied too much pressure, I would have done some minor cosmetic surgery. The closeness that usually takes me 3 passes, was complete in on only 2. I was impressed with the weight and performance, but now want to see how it shaves loaded with a PolSilver SI. I test fitted the handle with my Weber head, and it fit quite nicely. I would recommend this razor to anyone who is interested. Thanks.
Got mine yesterday in a 100 mm size. It is nicely made but I believe the knurling is in the wrong place. My first shave had me holding the razor with my fingers on the smooth section. excellent shave though.
