It will clog multi-blade cartridges, no doubt about it. No problems for me with a DE or straight. Yes, it is thicker ands more viscous than regular lather so it does require a more thorough washing. No big deal, however—it's not as if we're removing tree sap or pine tar from a brush....
I am intrigued by the Palmolive stick. Might have to make yet another addition to the collection of soaps I'm slowing making my way through.
I like the inexpensive, bang-for-the-buck consumables that are available locally. I spend a little more for durable goods (razor and brush) so I know that it'll be a pleasure to use for years to come (hopefully for life), but even then I don't splurge for high-end pieces. I do appreciate their craftsmanship and aesthetic and don't feel any animosity toward their price point. I'm just frugal. I'm using VdH Unscented Luxury and like it a lot. I like VdH Deluxe too, but Luxury has a little nicer lather that provides a smoother shave.
My favorite software is cheap stuff Palmolive soap 2$, Palmolive Cool 2$, Speick SC 3$, Pitralon Classic AS 6$...all perform great
