I've been meaning to try Stirling soaps as everyone seems to rave about them, so I ordered some samples today: Black Ice Coniferous Sandalwood Stirling Clubman I also ordered a test #2 puck of Glastonbury as it seemed fairly interesting. Should be interesting!
I just received my sample pucks today. After just one test lather I knew that I was a fan. Great rich, creamy, smooth lather that feels great on the face. With a wide range of scents, its just a matter of time before you find your favorite. They make a great product, and you will not be disappointed. It might be a good idea to watch the videos online which demonstrate how to build a good lather. Enjoy.
I'm sure some of it depends on the water, but that "slimy" feeling for me is just perfect slickness. I can do touch up passes without re-applying lather, and my razor never skips at all like it does with some of the great soaps like Tabac and DR Harris, and most creams. With our soft water, it lathers like a champ, and washes away leaving a great after-shave feeling. I do get what you're saying, though, but for me those traits are virtues.
I am with you on this one. It tends to make acne pop up too. It sucks because I really wanted to like Stirling.
Tracking shows it should be delivered today. Hopefully it will fit in my mailbox and I'll actually receive it today too. Very interested in trying these, especially Black Ice.
I am gonna have to try them soon. I live in mesquite and they are in killeen Texas so shipping should be really fast.
They do 2 day shipping. Small box, so it was waiting for me when I got in. They're wrapped, but the mailman must be wondering what all this stuff I've been getting is as this box was VERY smelly! I wish I could shave 5 times tonight, I want to try them all. I think I may have to go with the Black Ice tonight though.
The Black Ice soap is great if you like menthol and a soap with a black licorice scent. If you really enjoy menthol the Glacial soaps are your tickets because no other soaps on Planet Earth freeze like them.
I'm starting to explore the world of Menthol. I love a good licorice scent though, and can't wait to tear into the Black Ice for tonight's shave. And... I realized when I was looking at the order I placed, they sent me a free sample of Gin & Tonic! I'd thought about buying it, and just assumed I'd left it in my cart until I looked at my order again. Very cool, Stirling!!
Just ordered a few Pucks of Stirling and some samples as well but forgot to try some black ice oh well next time I will get some of it !!
I believe the Glacial Obsidian is being produced again and if you think the Black Ice is cold, the Obsidian makes it feel warm!
So I tried Stirling for the first time tonight. I'd had some trepidations as people seem to have lathering issues with it. Yeah, not at all. Water, product, elbow grease with my stiff Omega 49. As soon as I got a weak lather, instead of adding more product, I added more water and pushed through. An amazing lather burst forth. I'm not a soap guy. I like creams. I've tried several soaps, cheap and not so cheap. I like this soap. A lot.
You are hooked now........... I truly like Stirling soaps too. Rod and Mandy are also great folks to deal with. It was nice to see Rod be able to go "full time" after retiring from the Army.
