Summer is in full swing now, so here's my set-up for a wonderful day called, Menthol Monday! Gatsby Ice Cooling Gel Facial Wash Large Horsehair Barbershop Super Speed/new Sharp Stirling Glacial Wintergreen SS 444 AS Balm Osage Rub AS Aramis EdT If this set-up doesn't freeze a man's face off then nothing will. The Gatsby facial wash is icy-cold, and the sensation lasts quite some time. To this day I cannot get over how frigid this Glacial Wintergreen soap's awesome lather and beautiful scent, not to mention the intensity of the freezing effect it gives. The 444 balm together with the Rubby Dubby Doo are a heavenly combination.

Monday Noon Shave Razor: Edwin Jagger DE8911 Blade: ASCO (1) Brush: Vie-long White Horse Hair Soap: Proraso Green This shave was the best shave ever. I had such a close BBS that I'm amazed. I noticed that Asco is a very comfy and sharp blade. I didn't even feel it's cutting, but in one pass, I almost had BBS! I just did another pass to make it perfect. I didn't use any after shave or cologne this time, but I have a great feeling on my face now. I'll definitely buy more from this blade in near future. Have a great week!

B&M Monday Barrister and Mann makes some great soaps. I love their complex scents, especially this Ferox, with its peppery grapefruit, and other things I cannot begin to identify. Perhaps the only thing better than their scent is the post shave feel on my skin. I love soaps with Shea butter, and I like lanolin, so B&M's combination of these two ingredients is amazing. I got a smooth and easy shave. I finished with Fine Platinum, which compliments Ferox nicely. Prep: warm shower, RR/HTGAM lime menthol Soap: B&M Ferox Brush: HIS Razor: iKon SC101 Blade: Personna blue (1) AS: Fine Platinum

It is easy to lather and I like the lime scent. The Slim and Viking’s Sword did their job again. Great smooth, close, and nick free shave. I finished up with my sample of Captain’s Choice Lime! This is my 2nd sample bottle, I really need to order a full bottle. Bob
Monday: hot shower w/Pinaud Clubman Musk scented body wash Homemade PSO 1950 Gillette SuperSpeed 2+ passes Astra SP (5) Marble Shave Set boar Dr Dittmar soap Thayers unscented w/aloe Pinaud Clubman Musk AS My best guess is this new razor is a 1950 SuperSpeed and the new brush is a boar. Both cleaned up pretty good despite the razor being extremely gunked up and the brush having the worst smell of any brush I've acquired to date. The brush appears to have had very little use so I'm not sure why is smells so bad but maybe I don't want to know. I didn't think about it when I got this white/gray marble shave set yesterday but it goes very well on my sink which is white porcelin with chrome faucets and a light gray backsplash. Both pieces are heavy so I need to take care and not drop them on the hard floor and break them.
SOTD June 30 Prep: hot shower Razor: George Wostenholm & Son Celebrated I-XL Brush: Vie-Long Soap: Proraso green Passes: 2 (WTG, XTG) Post: Witch Hazel Sometime last week I read about someone having issues getting a smooth irritation free shave on their neck, and one of the suggestions was to shave this area first to make sure the lather is not drying out. I have done similar in the past when using a straight, and it doesn't hurt. Today I used the same logic and started to shave the left side of my face first, as I tend to have problems with my beard line on that side of my face. It didn't help as much as I would have liked, but it did help.
Pre: Shave Secret Brush: Shea Moisture Shave Synthetic Soap: C.O. Bigelow – Eucalyptus Razor: Gillette TTO Black Handle Blade: Sharp Stainless Splash: Wal-Mart Witch Hazel 86% Post: Dove Men+Care ASB After: Fine Classic After Shaving Splash – Fine I finally decided to get on board with Menthol Mondays. It’ was a good decision! My head is still tingling! I am really liking the Bigelow soap. I can feel the menthol through out the entire shave. Makes a very solid, creamy lather with little effort. The razor should glide easily. I said “should” because today was rough... Find out "why" at That Shave Life!

6/30/14 Prep: Warm shower and face wash Lather: Stirling Spice Brush: Vie-Long Lord Randal mixed hair Razor: Gillette New razor Blade: Astra SP (2) Post: Old Spice aftershave Decided to use the Stirling Spice today. The soap was relatively dry having been in the container for over a month without use, so I took a wet brush to it. Mistake! Foamy and light and no substance, so started over with a dry brush and the soap was wet. Loaded up plenty of soap in about 25 seconds, made good slick lather in my scuttle. New razor just delivered once again, no nicks, no weeps and a DFS with little effort. Have a great week all!
