I'm a year in and after a serious case of RAD I have 25+ razors, most of which I need to sell off. I have 5 solid razors in my stable that I use on a rotation. A replated LC New, Bostonian, replated Pre-War tech, 40's Super-speed, and a Red Tip. Hopefully I can knock it down to 2-3 in the next few months.... I'm not as huge a fan of the Red Tip as I am the 40's SS and the tech likes to bite me for some reason...
Ok, I have many razors but discovered this morning I could survive happily with only a Gem 1912. Will I? Doubt it LOL.
I've got 4 DE's, 4 SE's, 3 Rolls and 2 straights. I use them all (except for the straights which need to be honed). Could I do with only one? Yup. Guess so. I can't choose which one (though the odds favor the Rolls). And, most important: I don't want to choose (nor need to). But I get your point. We are over-consuming. Because we can. And most of us (myself included of course!) could do with less. So it is good to stand still from time to time and think things over. And then buy another razor.
Currently it's my gold played gillette tech...just got it, freakin love it. I could sell everything else and be extremely happy. But of course...that would never happen :/
WOW!!! What did you do with the slim adjustable? That is 40 years if I am counting my fingers correctly.
i have 2 fetaher popular 1 wilkinson classic 1 feather as d2 which have not been used anymore... They are stocked for my sons... so only 1 razor left me!
Thus far it's the most comfortable and close shaving razor I've ever used. And I've tried a ridiculous amount of DE's so far.
I have only one razor: the Standard Razor. Before that I had a Gilette Tech, but after seeing reviews and comparing I decided to give the Gilette to a friend and go for Standardrazors.com. And one type of blades: Voshkods. Cheap and very comfortable. I'm using different soaps, but still love Proraso most.
I could make do with one razor, one brand of blade, one soap, and one brush. I believe we all could if the circumstances mandated such. I can see that it would benefit us all as well. As swarden43 said here on this forum some months ago, (please forgive the paraphrase) "Dude, it ain't the tool, it's the operator. Learn to use what you've got." 45, a timely post. Perhaps it's time for me to stop, drop, and give thanks...
It ain't the arrows...it's the Indian. That was grandpa's version. I could certainly use only one razor going forward, but it would definitely revert shaving back into a daily chore instead of a "me time" pleasure. No Buy July has certainly made me tap the brakes on my impulsive acquisition disorders and appreciate what I have though. The "hobby" aspect of this wet shaving thing is what I am enjoying.
i only have one.. an above the tie kronos R1. i have bought and sold about two dozen different ones until i found this razor...then i sold off all others and kept only this one.
